Christopher's obituary
Christopher Sean McConathy, 47, of Malvern, PA, passed away on September 14, 2025. An artist, a chef, and a man of endless curiosity and talents, he packed more hobbies, projects, and adventures into his years than most people could fit into three lifetimes.
Chris made life delicious. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America (2000), he had the rare gift of turning whatever was in the pantry into a meal that felt like magic. But his artistry went far beyond the kitchen. Chris designed, built, landscaped, and turned gardens and yards into works of art. If something was broken, he fixed it. If it didn’t exist, he created it. And when Halloween rolled around, he transformed his front yard into a wonderland that neighbors looked forward to all year.
From an early age, Chris loved fishing, boats, and being near the water. The thrill of racing his Ducati brought him joy, as did carving down black diamonds or staying home to play music with friends. Animals trusted him, children adored him, and friends knew they could always count on his unlimited generosity. He was always ready to fix a broken gadget, remodel a room, or smoke a rack of his famous ribs to share with all.
Chris loved his family, and holidays were times he especially treasured. He delighted in the chance to spend time with his brothers, nieces, and nephews, pick out thoughtful gifts, cook amazing meals, and share his love in ways that brought everyone around him happiness.
Of all the things Chris created, his masterpiece and proudest legacy is his daughter, Sidney, age 4. She was his light, his laughter, and the greatest chapter of his story.
Chris is survived by Sidney; his wife, Brooke; his parents, Evelyn and Don; his brothers, Mike and Jeff (Brenda); his nieces and nephews, Evan, Ryan, Sophia, and Lillian; and countless friends who will forever carry his spirit forward.
A celebration of Chris’s life will be held at Batchelor Brothers Funeral Home, 3215 Garrett Rd, Drexel Hill, PA 19026, on September 27, 2025. Calling hours will be from 11am–12pm, with a remembrance service and reception on site to follow. Friends are encouraged to share stories, memories, and laughter in his honor.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to a GoFundMe supporting Sidney are welcomed.
