Cherylee's obituary
Cherylee Ann (Berge) Hamilton, 79, of Menominee, Michigan, passed away on June 22, 2024.
Cherylee was born on June 2, 1945, in Menominee, Michigan to Kurt and Arlene Berge. She graduated from Menominee High School, Class of 1963. Married to Roger Hamilton from 1966 to 1975, their union resulted in three daughters. In 1983, Cherylee graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Marinette with an AA Degree. She moved with her three daughters to the state of Washington in 1984 and worked for the University of Puget Sound, Manpower, and R.L. Polk. She returned to Menominee in 1998 and loved living on the shores of Green Bay with the million-dollar view. Shortly thereafter, she found her passion and her life’s work as a massage therapist and touched the lives of her many clients whom she deeply loved. Cherylee lived life unabashedly; her laugh filled the room, and her heart of gold was legendary.
Cherylee reveled in her role as a grandma and great grandma, creating unique memories with her family that will remain treasured stories for years to come. She was a regular attender of Beith Menorah Fellowship since 2021, as she pursued her lifetime journey of faith in God. Cherylee was intentional about connecting with loved ones near and far, making frequent trips to the West Coast, especially to Moclips, Washington, vacationing at her Florida timeshare, and attending the annual Florida Strawberry Festival, Bok Tower Gardens, and the Detroit Tigers Spring Training. She treasured the times with her dad when they went to Germany to visit his hometown and beloved cousins.
Nostalgic childhood memories were created for Cherylee at the Salvation Army's Chicagami Camp, located on Little Lake Newton, near Athelstane, Wisconsin, and that area continued to be a favorite place for family gatherings throughout the years. In 1996, Chicagami Camp became Camp Daniel, serving the needs of people with disabilities. Cherylee believed that everyone has value and deserves love and care, and she enthusiastically served as a Camp Daniel volunteer for many years. She belonged to GLOVES (Gilded Lives of Victorian Edwardian Society) and delighted dressing in elegant Victorian-style clothing and exquisite hats, especially at the annual Somewhere in Time weekend at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. She was also a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC Menominee) for 14 years. Cherylee enjoyed reading, music, concerts, movies, and playing table games.
Cherylee is survived by her three daughters: Ann Marie Fallon (Cliff), Wendy Moe (Michael), and Susan Wheeler (Jason); her ten grandchildren: Phillip, Wesley, Wenton, Wendrew, Casie, Raina, Tyler, Chamara, Cameo and Tiberius; and her seven great-grandchildren: Liam, Ellis, Elaina, Silas, Crew, Scarlett, and Evelyn. She is also survived by her siblings: Tom Berge, Will Berge (Maria), Bonnie Freitag (Doug), Judy Reid (Len), John Berge (Tracy), and Ruth Fay (Bob); her many nieces and nephews, cousins, and by her aunt, Patricia Berge, and uncle, Stan Hruska.
Cherylee is preceded in death by her grandparents: William and Edith Sieman, Karl and Emma Berge; her parents: Kurt and Arlene Berge; and her sister-in-law, Peggy Berge.
Cherylee will be laid to rest at Menominee’s Riverside Cemetery without a service.
