Some people spend their lives looking for a true friend. I was blessed that I was born with one. You have literally been my day 1.
Biology made us cousins
Legalities made us aunt/niece
Hearts made us sisters
Experiences made us friends
Those in our circle marvel, laughed about it, but ultimately understood.
You were only two when I was born, but you always had a front row seat to my life and helped me navigate every step of the way, no matter our age. We experienced childhood together, young adulthood together and eventually we each married, had families, made friends and had great times. Through it all we supported each other and were never more than a phone call away.
During childhood, we wrote an award worthy song (to the music of Fame) called Skate due to our shared love of roller skating. We camped with our grandparents and explored strange places and met even stranger people.
As young adults, we loved to tell people that our uncles were brothers. 😂 I was the annoying “little” cousin who followed you everywhere. You were my hero and I wanted to do all the things you did.
As we grew older Easters were special because we got to bring our families together. Even as our children matured and eventually became adults themselves, we all still gathered for that magical egg hunt, your amazing lamb chops and top secret magical pound cake. We welcomed friends, family, and made countless memories. It was truly special.
You taught me so much about life, love, and kindness. I see so much of you in your beautiful babies and because of that I know you will live forever in them. I will always channel my inner Chanel and handle all things with grace, compassion, and love.
Rest well dear cousin, niece, sister, friend.
I love you always. 💚
