Bryan's obituary
It is with deep sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Bryan A. Hoopes on November 4, 2022. Bryan was a talented audio/video/lighting professional, whose career had him working on projects across the country. His creativity and knowledge made him an invaluable asset and mentor to those working alongside him. Bryan was raised in Danville, California, and spent summers in Incline Village, Nevada. His mother was a flight attendant and his father a pilot, thus providing a unique opportunity to travel at a young age. Bryan attended Monte Vista High School and Diablo Community College in Northern California, where his interest in audio, video, and lighting began.
Outside of his professional life, Bryan was an avid fisherman, storyteller, and lover of history. He had a passion for learning about fossils, the ocean, gardening, cooking, military vehicles, World War II, aviation (his father was a B-17 pilot), the Civil War, Nevada mining, and many other little-known facts about the Tahoe basin and surrounding area. Bryan also enjoyed restoring military items and finding one-of-a-kind treasures at estate and garage sales.
Bryan met and married the love of his life, Lisa Smith, in Southern California. Two weeks after they were married, the couple moved to Florida for his work. He worked for a national news station as a camera operator and also in their production division. When they moved to Incline Village, Nevada in the late 80's, Bryan started his own company while enjoying the blessing of living in the mountains and raising their three sons. Bryan's distinct interests and curious nature made him a fascinating conversationalist. He was always eager to share his wealth of knowledge with others, especially his sons. Bryan brought artifacts to their classes, supported their music and school projects, assisted in community events, and made sure they experienced fishing, camping, and history together. Bryan also took pride in creating Cub Scout and Boy Scout trips that left a lasting impression on the kids and their families.
Bryan is survived by his wife Lisa, their sons Kendall, Logan and Tyler Hoopes, his sister Leslie McMillan, and extended family members who enjoyed sharing in his many adventures. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd A. Hoopes, and his mother, Ruth Brennan.
Bryan will be remembered for his creativity, sense of humor, mischievous smile, extensive knowledge, and willingness to engage with others on a wide variety of topics. Our hearts will miss him tremendously this side of heaven.
A Celebration of Life is planned for 2:00 p.m. on June 25, 2023, at Aspen Grove (960 Lakeshore Boulevard, Incline Village, Nevada 89451).
