I am just hearing of Brant's passing now.  Brant was in my doctoral program in the English Department--just a couple years ahead of me, which meant that I saw him at parties but also thought he was light years ahead in terms of accomplishment and polish.  While we worked in different fields, his peers were always in awe of his breadth or reading.  "He's read everything Victorian," I heard quite often.  And so he will always live with a burnished image of erudition in my mind.  My dear friend Tracy--also at UCLA-- remembers his humor.

Brant and I were best of friends in elementary school. Together, we wrote a Christmas play and our teacher let us recruit classmates and perform for the school. He later talked me into joining the CCPA performance of Fiddler on the Roof. We spent many days exploring around Cottey and his wonderful old house and garage. I also remember he was always SO FAST! That kid could run. He was always one I wanted to reconnect with. So sorry that never happened. Rest well.

Very sorry to hear this. When he lived in Nevada as a young boy, we became friends and I’d spent the night at their house a few times and always had a great time. I remember he’d had a birthday party one time and playing tag across the street in Cotteys front yard. I remember he’d also done some acting with our local CCPA. Rest easy my old friend.
