Hi Boyd,

Dan and Tina invited us to Coen and Suria’s conference in Africa in October.  It was a very good feeling to reconnect with them. It was energizing being aroundSo many young people who want to make a difference for God.

But, of course, you are seeing all of this.

I was stunned that Suria could remember my talk and verse from 2007.And Coen said the talent workshop changed the way he leads his ministry.

So I had an opportunity to share at the conference and then had two full days of training - entrepreneurship and talent spelunking this time.

Thank you again for the referral to Coen and the conference fifteen years ago.I feel like it is home. Susan and I will head back there to do more training.

Being in George has helped me here to focus. I see where the biblical creativity material could give people more options and alternatives in what they are doing.

Susan and I are looking forward to connecting with Dan and Tina and their ministry in Tanzania, the Lake, Malwai, George and all over Africa. We will continue the work that you and Virgina supported so faithfully.  And, of course, we will say hi to Givemore, Eric Mango and others.

It has been almost a year.  I miss the fifty plus years of bouncing ideas and getting thoughts from you.

Rick

A day like  today ( his birthday) will keep reminding us of this great lover of God. Boyd loved discipling people one-on-one, in real life, on-the-job. Either he was helping you or you were helping him, either way, discipleship was happening. It did not end there, he followed up, lovingly. Miss him more! Each day!
I first met Boyd while stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas about 1963. I think we met at a Bible study at the home of an officer at Fort Bliss. I was not a Christian at the time, but I soon found the Lord at a local church in El Paso. Talking to Boyd gave me a good foundation for my faith and I also got involved with the Navigators while I was stationed in Germany.

There is much to talk about Boyd. I met him between 2005 and 2008 first in Zambia and then in Malawi. Boyd loved the LORD absolutely and served Him passionately. He also loved people a lot and invested a lot in people through his friendship, teaching and even resources. His love for God's Word was just so deep. His compassion for those who suffered was unique. Boyd indeed lived out what he believed and preached for so many years. What a faithful man of God. Even as I write, Boyd is still supporting my family as Missionaries from Cameroon to Malawi. He is with our LORD in Heaven and he continues to promote the propagation of God's Word. I am currently in the States and when Boyd heard that we were coming, he asked that we pay him a visit. We were looking forward to seeing him again so much. Unfortunately, He went Home to the LORD only 2 days before we left Malawi for the US. I know that Boyd is resting now because he fought a great fight on so many fronts. His influence lives on!
  1. I meet Boyd in 2003 during his brief stay in Malawi, Boyd was like a father to me, he has been there for me when I need advice , I remember working for him as a gardener and having sprecial debete   for me to become a Christian  I had great time with him which will not be  forgotten  in my memory, I remember when we drove over 300km just to visit my home village  in Balaka, Malawi. He has done a great job on supporting me in many ways which I could not returned I always told him God will return it to him, condolences to the family God be with you in this difficult situation.
Boyd worshiped with us at South Hill Bible Church in Spokane the past few years. His love of the Lord, his knowledge of the Word, his humble transparency challenged us all. He spoke at our men’s retreat last year and encouraged us all to devour God’s truth. He lived what he spoke as he shared passage after passage he had memorized and used for meditation. In the months before his home going, I had the privilege of watching this servant of God hold more and more tightly to the Lord Jesus Christ. His faith didn’t waver. By his life and by his death Boyd showed us all how to run the race of life in and for Christ.

We, the Nyakambiri family are sharing in your sadness as you remember Boyd today. We miss him a lot and are still not used not to being with him this side of the world.
We named our now 9 year old son after him.
In all this be comforted knowing that he is with his Father whom he served faithfully all his life.
We are missing him.
Our international marriage got a solid start with Boyd as counselor, Bible study leader and pastor at our wedding. We are thankful to have had him extra close as a friend of the family and someone who could "check up on us" whenever we would visit Stateside. Incredibly strange that you have moved on ahead of us, Boyd. We are blessed to have known you and look forward to meeting you again. Will be streaming the Memorial later tonight, from Norway. Our sympathies to you, Jon and Joy. We really loved your parents!

Our wedding with Boyd as our minister
I meet Boyd about 1980 in church. His background with the Navs ministry interested me as well as his interest in fixing cars. I spent time at his home where I saw home schooling at work. Anny & I home schooled our boys later & his family’s example encouraged that choice in Hong Kong. I’d say Boyd was a 2 Timothy 3:16-17 man. We kept in contact over our time in HK these past 35 yrs & we visited many times when back in Seattle. This summer we stayed with Boyd a few days. I left remembering a godly man in his last weeks on earth doing what he has always been doing. Teaching the Word & encouraging us to spread it & live for Jesus. I hope I can complete my days on earth always following Jesus as well as Boyd has.

*This is the content of the last email I sent to Boyd, before he went to see Jesus. As you will read, both Boyd and Virginia made a huge impact on my spiritual growth.

Hi Boyd,

I am thankful we had an opportunity to chat a while back. I'm so sad to say goodbye, but I look forward to chatting with you again once we're reunited in Heaven.

Below are several ways you've both contributed to my faith/walk with Jesus:

-Giving thanks when things are hard...this was HUGE! Giving thanks in all circumstances has proven to be so powerful! I practice this Biblical principal often and have passed this scripture/wisdom on to others.

-The reality of spiritual warfare. This was HUGE for me too. I was being attacked in many ways prior to meeting with you both. Once you drew the picture of the stronghold and explained that we are with Jesus above the principalities of this world, I was free to understand my position. I began to walk confidently in the Spirit's strength and power.

-Freedom and Forgiveness. You both helped me walk through the Steps to Freedom. This is where I understood bitterness and was freed from so much of it. I still have copies and have led others through it as well.

-You were the one who encouraged me to go to Africa with the group you were leading. What a blessing that was. Two memories stand out in my mind. First, God's word was hidden in your heart. You knew His word so well; you were able to preach a sermon without any time to prepare. Second, when I was feeling down, Virginia taught me to think of an attribute of God for each letter of the alphabet! Going through this process lifted my spirits.

-Playing video games with Josh when you first met him. This was a blessing to me. I hadn't known anyone who played video games up to this point. In my mind, if Boyd played video games, then it must be okay for my husband to play them. ;)

When you meet Jesus face to face, I have no doubt His words will be, "Well done, good and faithful servant."

Thank you, Boyd. Until we meet again,

Terri

I met Boyd in 1963, while stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. He and another friend shared the gospel with me and encouraged me to become a Christian. That experience completely changed my life and Boyd continued to be an encourager. I’m thankful for his friendship and his love for the Lord.
