Blake's obituary

Blake William Paul Brooks passed unexpectedly in his sleep on June 6, 2025, at his home in Seattle, Washington. He was 32.

Blake was born December of 1992, in Seattle, and while he lived in Eastern Washington and Denver for much of the last decade, he often shared his love of Seattle with friends and was excited to return home. He was a talented designer, craftsman, kind soul who brought thoughtfulness, and creativity into everything he did.

In May of 2025, Blake earned his Master of Architecture from University of Colorado Denver, a culmination of years of dedication to his craft and education. During his time at CU Denver, he worked in the university's fabrication lab mentoring fellow students on how to be safe and providing encouraging assistance to help finish their projects. His guidance and leadership left a lasting impression on many.

Before pursuing his master's, Blake worked as a skilled carpenter, contributing to building projects in Seattle, Bellingham, Tacoma, Burien, and Moscow, Idaho. He earned his bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University in 2019.

Blake is survived by his Dad and a wide circle of family and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved Mom, Lori.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the New Community Church in Maple Valley, Washington, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. PDT. All who knew and loved Blake are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donation arrangements are being made for both WSU and CU Denver to support those programs where Blake spent so much of his time. Specific information on how to donate will be shared at the service and online.

Cards and condolences can be sent to:

  • 18806 SE 168th Renton, WA 98058-0803

Blake will be remembered for his thoughtful spirit, creativity, and ability to build beautiful, meaningful things—both in the physical world and in the lives of those who knew him.

He was humble, witty, whip smart, and just cool. He is tremendously missed.
