She was  the kind of nurse who sets the bar HIGH for everyone around her. She was either feared or revered.  I choose revered.

Standing up to doctors when it mattered, backing her fellow nurses, and being a “ball-buster” for the sake of patient care is the definition of her ethical courage. That old-school backbone—before everything was smoothed over with committees and emails—often came from deep competence, compassion and zero tolerance for nonsense that put patients at risk.

She will be forever remembered and I believed modeled in some form for those of us that were in her presence.

So very sorry for your loss.

Much Love,

Curtis Woodworth, RN

Odette was such a good nurse and manager. She was very efficient and very smart and very practical. She never complained. She loved her work. She loved her husband and daughter.  God bless her and may she rest in peace in . Thank you for inviting us , her 310 family. I love her and I was touched by her work ethics.

Grateful that I have known and worked with her.

Victoria Lorenzo

Dear Hilary and Family,  It's Sharon Low from Sondra Bishop's circle of friends. It's been decades since I've seen you. I was saddened to hear about the passing of your mom, Odette.  My condolences to you, your family and her family members in Australia.  She was a vibrant elfin with a twinkle in her eyes.  It's not fair, well into her 80's she looked the same. She was fun to be around and I'll never forget the Johnson Family hospitality when Sondra & I visited Australia.  I've enjoyed seeing all the photos posted. May you cherish all the memories of her.  I'm making a donation to The Malala Fund in her honor.  xo, Sharon

Where do I begin. For 20 years Odette and her Family were my Family in the United Staes.  Every Christmas and Thanksgiving. I just presumed that's where I would be. We worked together for 20 years also. Worked and fought, ha ha ha. So much one time a passing Doctor asked if we were Married. Odette was always there. My anchor. Its very nice as we struggle though life to always know that there is always Mother. The only one you can flee to in distress  and be comforted and supported. Odette was that to so many people. So much so, that they used to jokingly call her 'Mother' ay the 310 Building, her last place of work. It's unimaginable to think such an Icon to so many of us is gone. Her passing has caused such great sadness for so many people. But we all hold in our hearts such warm and sweet memories, that we will always cherish to the end of our days.

Dear Hilary. What a beautiful obituary.  I met your mom at Surgecenter, in PaloAlto.  We had many years of good times and laughs. I feel very sad, but am enjoying the memories.  My sincerest condolences to you and your family,  Kathy Smith-Redpath
