Barbara was a frequent dinner guest at our home for many years, especially in the summer when the days were long and she didn't have to leave after dark. Typically, Diane and I would prep the food , and I would do the grilling while Diane and Barbara would talk shop - "Home Goods" Eileen Fisher, J Jill. etc.
On these occasions, I always made sure to have a chilled bottle of prosecco on hand, because it was Barbara's preferred summer beverage. Now, maybe it was the prosecco, but after almost every meal, Barbara would exclaim "that was the best chicken/fish/steak/burger I ever ate. What did you put in it? " She always made me feel that my culinary skills were worthy of a at least a few Michelin stars. I always enjoyed the complements and praise, even if Barb might have had a low bar influenced by the prosecco. I will miss those summer barbeques and dinners with her, and will always think of her, whenever I pop the cork of a bottle of prosecco.

Barb, Michele, and I spent a lot of time together since we were in the same thesis group at Pratt. We probably saw/emailed/talked to each other 6 days a week for about 6 months.

As a part of our thesis project, we traveled to London and I have such fond, vivid memories of that trip which was more like an adventure. One of the memories is when Barb's wallet got stolen and we got a random call saying that they found it in the bushes near a bus stop. We got on a bus and went to the London suburbs to a really nice couple that handed the wallet back to Barb. All the cash was gone but she got all her IDs back!Ā

I can still hear that scream that she does before she laughs. Ahhhhh!

I'm going to miss her so much. She was so funny, smart, and just a wonderful person.
