St.Paul`s Catholic Primary School had her 120 years Founders Day Anniversary in 2022 and we gave an award to our senior, now late Otunba Anthony Odugbesan. We shall be given it award and souvenir to the Children during the funeral ceremony.

LEKAN BADEJO

LETTER OF CONDOLENCE FROM MEMBERS OF ST.PAUL`S CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL OLD STUDENT`S ASSOCIATION,APAPA ROAD EBUTE METTA,LAGOS.

Dearest Family of Late. Otunba Anthony Olusegun Odugbesan,

We the above named Association, of which our late senior is a member, join with so many others who knew him in offering our deepest sympathy on his passing. Although it is little consolation at this sad time, it should be of some satisfaction to know that in his passing we can celebrate the end of a very long and productive life.

The measure of a life well-lived or spent is not in how much money one has or what possessions they have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched, and the grief they leave behind. If the outpouring of sympathy on his loss is any indication, and it most certainly is, we can proudly, and confidently say that his indeed was a life well-lived.

May you find peace and comfort in knowing that his loss is felt by all who knew and loved him.

In Sympathy,

Mr. Lekan Badejo 1983 Set   -08083687006

President, Old Students’ Association

Mrs. Aramide Lawal 1983 Set- 08034463766

To have known my grandfather was and is still a great privilege. In all the times in growing up with him, he remains loving, strong, and leaderful. His legacy inspires me today to be great. May he rest in peace.

My grandpa loved me and I love him. We had a great time with grandpa. I love him so much.

I will really miss you.

My amazing grandfather Otunba Anthony Olusegun Odugbesan was a very kind and loving man, I’m grateful for the time my family and I were able to spend with him in his last days, getting to see him and talk to him. He is now in a better place, We thank God for the impactful life he had here on earth. He had a great impact to all his family and friends, he will stay in my memories as a God-fearing, kind-hearted grandfather.

Daddy embodied the essence of a man's man – charming, easy-going, and remarkably charismatic.

Our hours of conversation, reminiscing about your tennis matches and the good old days, are moments I hold dear. Your pure heart embraced me as your own, and being called your friend at your 80th birthday meant the world to me.

You'll forever reside in my heart as a cherished friend and father. As an outstanding father-in-law and a wonderful granddad, your legacy is enduring.

The echo of your catchphrase "oh yes, oh yes" remains a comforting reminder of you. Thank you for being a fine gem and an Otunba, leaving behind a fantastic life's work.

I believe the Lord welcomes you as his good and faithful servant.

Daddy, your presence will be greatly missed. Rest in heavenly peace.

With love,

Roni Odugbesan

TRIBUTE TO OTUNBA ANTHONY OLUSEGUN ODUBESAN

It is with heavy heart that a write this tribute.

The hands of fate brought me close to Otunba Anthony Olusegun Odugbesan in 1988 as my teacher and supervisor when I was doing my Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Marketing at the University of Lagos in Nigeria. That hand of fate continued until 1998 (when I completed my PhD degree at the University of Lagos) and beyond. The last time I had the privilege to talk to and with Otunba Odugbesan was in 2017 when he called and prayed for me pertaining to my appointment as the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Eastern Palm University (now called Kingsley Ozumba Mbadiwe University) in Imo State of Nigeria.

From 1988 to 2024, I had the privilege of relating with a loving, Godly and highly detribalized Nigerian in the person of Otunba Anthony Olusegun Odugbesan. I found him as a “distant father” who made every effort to “rescue” me from many environmental claws. He provided the platforms, along with very few persons on earth, for my professional and social advancements.

For all these privileges given to me, I pray to the good Lord to accept Otunba Anthony Olusegun Odugbesan happily in Heaven as we strive to follow his enviable footsteps on earth in the complex maze of life.

Thank you, Sir, for everything and goodnight!

Linus Osuagwu, PhD (UNILAG),

Pioneer Vice Chancellor of Eastern Palm University

My sincere  condolences to the entire  Odugbesan family. May the memories of your father be a blessing. I heard  great stories of you through your daughter,Judith, when she was the youngest person to office on the executive  floor at GE's  Aberdeen offices. She  often wove stories and examples  of her Dad into her  workshops on ethics and compliance. She was no shrinking  violet and she would often attribute  her strengths to how she was raised  by her parents.   Having met them on one of their visits to Aberdeen, as we Americans say,  I knew they  were  "good peoples".  My heart goes out  to Judith, her siblings and all loved ones mourning the passing of this clearly  inspirational  man.

TRIBUTE TO OTUNBA ANTHONY OLUSEGUN ODUGBESAN

My only brother, my father. It came as a shock when I learnt of your passing on to eternal glory. Until this moment, I still find it find it difficult to believe that you had left us. An academician par excellence. Capable, versatile, and dynamic. A man of remarkable ability and charismatic personality. A strict disciplinarian. A great sportsman, fantastic table-tennis player, skillful footballer and good boxer which earned your nick name “Teddy Odus”. A member of the winning team of the All- conquering Saint Finbarr’s College, Akoka, winners of the Principal cup in 1962. A champion of the 1964 Table-tennis competition in Lagos City. You became a Patriarch at a tender age of 23years after the demise of our father when I was a toddler of 5 years and kept the family intact until you passed on. You taught us core moral values and to be contented with what you have. Your constant teaching of moral instructions had been embedded in me. Your continuous drumming in my ears that “Honesty is the best Policy” was never forgotten that all my contemporaries regard me with utmost respect. I could remember as a young child who would be looking forward to your coming back from work because of the biscuits and ice cream and other gifts you showered on me. You would swing me up high in the air and carried me on the shoulders. Our weekly routine to Lagos City Stadium (now Onikan Stadium) to watch football matches with me sitting on your shoulders, hands filled with biscuits, mouth smeared with ice cream will remain forever in my heart. I remember the discipline and corrections with love anytime I went overboard with my rascality. I would not forget how you swung into action after I was diagnosed with hernia in 1980. You quickly got in touch with Dr Oshisanya (another great Finbarrian) of blessed memory who performed the successful surgery. May be, then, I would have decorated a slab in the morgue and be forgotten. Your annual New Year family re-union party will remain memorable. I could go on and on writing about your sublime qualities and virtues and make a book but I have to stop here.

May your soul rest in perfect peace. May the soul of your wife, the souls of our late parents, dear departed relatives, friends and the faithful departed rest in peace. AMEN.

ADIEU!!!

Femi Odugbesan

TRIBUTE TO OTUNBA ANTHONY OLUSEGUN ODUGBESAN

Your demise has left a very big vacuum that will very difficult to fill within the family, the academia and the Catholic Church in general.

You stood for everything that was equatable, just and lived a life of a defender of the defenseless and the oppressed. You gave your offsprings the best a father could give to his children, which is quality education, humility and the fear God. You touched many lives both within and outside the family.

The Yele family of Ijebu Isiwo will forever be grateful grateful to you for your fatherly role which you played for a very long time. Your legacy lingers on in our memoryI. Let me end this tribute with the words of a great philosopher Imam Ash - Shaffi "Some people have passed away, but their character kept them alive, others are alive, but their has killed them.
