Andrea's obituary

We regretfully announce the passing of Andrea Linneman on August 14, 2023. Born on February 24, 1967, the flame of her vibrant, beautiful soul was extinguished far too soon.

Andrea was a remarkable woman known for her adventurous spirit, courage, and profound passion for life. She was the heart and light of her family, loving them intensely and always encouraging them to take full advantage of each day by doing the things they love, with the people they love. Embodying the philosophy of following one's heart, pushing personal boundaries, and never compromising integrity, she left a legacy that urged her family and friends to live life to the fullest.

Growing up in Merced, CA, Andrea spent many Thanksgivings with her family at the Mauna Kea on the Big Island of Hawaii. She attended Burbank Elementary School and Tenaya Junior High School. Andrea graduated from Merced High School in 1985, where she was a proud flag carrier for the Merced Marching 100.   Andrea studied Political Science at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.  Andrea enrolled in Semester at Sea during her sophomore year at CU, where she developed life-long friendships and solidified her love of travel, visiting twelve different countries during the semester.  She graduated from CU in 1989.  Shortly after graduation, she made her home in Lake Tahoe where she worked as a ski instructor at Alpine Meadows, and later moved to Denver, Colorado in 1991.

Andrea's journey through life was marked by love and devotion. She was first married to Christian Dicker in 1991 and gave birth to two sons - Benjamen and Ryan Dicker. Later in 2013, she married Brian Vits and expanded her family to include stepchildren, Brian and Shannon Vits. Brian, Andrea, and the kids made their home in Littleton, Colorado.  Andrea was an extraordinarily proud mother who instilled her passions for skiing, hiking, reading, travel, fun, and adventure in her family.

As a highly skilled and accomplished recruiter, Andrea had a very successful thirty-year career in Talent Acquisition, successfully working in multiple industries such as Education, Finance, Hospitality, Technology, Medical, and most recently in home building with Century Communities.

Andrea's personal accomplishments were as remarkable as her spirit. She pushed her physical boundaries by running and completing the New York City and Tucson Marathons, the Hood to Coast relay in Oregon, the Boulder Backroads half-marathon, and the Colfax Marathon relay in Denver among others. Her love for the outdoors led her to climb multiple '14ers' in Colorado and venture on several extended hiking trips both in the U.S. and around the world, including hiking through the Dolomites with several of her best friends. In all, Andrea’s love of travel drove her to at least 30 countries, including memorable trips to Argentina, Australia, Zimbabwe, Costa Rica, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Bali, The British Virgin Islands, and Turks & Caicos. Andrea combined her desire for travel with her love of skiing by going on many ski vacations with family and friends into Canada, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming. Andrea's spirit of adventure was powerful and contagious.

She is survived by her husband, Brian Vits; her sons, Benjamen and Ryan Dicker; her stepchildren, Brian and Shannon Vits; her mother, Carol Linneman; her sister, Jessica Maggard; her brother-in-law, Jason Maggard; her niece and nephew, Kate and Preston Maggard; and her sister-in-law, Christine Vits.   Her father, James Linneman, passed away in 2015.

In lieu of flowers, donations for "Sense of Security" and "Hope and Home" can be made online at https://everloved.com/life-of…. Andrea felt a strong need to give back to her community by supporting two charities benefiting women and children in challenging situations. Andrea served as a member of the Board of Directors at Sense of Security, a charity benefiting women undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer. Hope and Home is a Colorado based charity that Andrea and Brian worked with to pursue foster parenting and adoption.

With an unforgettable smile that could light up any room, Andrea was blessed with many close friends that she kept in close contact with throughout her life. Her legacy of love, courage, and passion for life will forever be remembered among those who had the pleasure to know her. Per Andrea's wishes, her family is planning a celebration of her beautiful and inspiring life.  The celebration of life will be held at Spruce Mountain Ranch in Larkspur, Colorado from 2pm-7pm on Saturday, September 30th.
