Amber and I met in the infusion room at Cancer Care Specialists, sitting side by side in those tiny cubbies. I had finished chemo and was talking with a nurse about my breast reconstruction when another patient, Jessica, and her husband wanted to hear more about the surgery. Then the partition next to me opened, and there were Amber and her husband, Kenny, smiling and admitting they had been eavesdropping and wanted to hear more, too.
I remember Kenny quietly helping Amber with her cold capping while they listened. That small moment, their kindness, and Amber’s warmth have stayed with me ever since.
This clip was originally shared to promote Amber’s interview with me on the Test Those Breasts podcast, but it now feels like something much more: a reminder of her light, her humor, and the gentle way she connected with people.
May Amber rest in peace and power, knowing how loved she will always be. 💗

Amber was one of the first friends I made at UNM. She was a wonderful, incredibly kind person and I’m so sorry to hear of her passing.

We are so deeply sorry to hear about Amber’s passing. Eva just the other day was remembering how she and Quinn performed a Taylor Swift song for Amber and her grandma, and how much fun they always had together. She often talked about how kind Amber was and how much she loved playdates and sleepovers with Quinn because of all the fun things Amber planned. Amber was such a beautiful person with a warm, welcoming smile and will be missed by so many. Our hearts go out to your entire family during this difficult time.
With love and sympathy,
