Alexandra (Alex)'s obituary
Alexandra Hoffmann was a light in the lives of everyone who knew her. She seemed to know more about housing policy and public transportation than anyone. She was a passionate advocate for historic buildings, antique maps and books. Her artwork, especially as gifts, had exquisite attention to detail and made people feel known. Alex made a mean stir-fry and was a willing soup sous chef. She was an empath and was always looking for ways to help vulnerable people.
She was born on February 19, 2005 in Chicago, IL and passed from this world on May 12, 2025.
Alex is survived by her parents Jay and Kimberly, sisters Amelia and Lily, grandparents Sandra and Greg Jolliff and Anita and William Hahn, many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and other cherished extended family.
Alex attended Wilmette Public Schools through 8th grade, then graduated in the very first high school class at Bennett Day School in Chicago in June 2023. Alex was a sophomore at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, pursuing a custom major focused on urban planning and development. Alex was active in the Northwestern student community, with her contributions centered on issues of transgender support and advocacy, and urban development.
