In Loving Memory of a Remarkable Person
After my move to Washington, Uncle Adel was the first person who truly introduced himself to me at St. George Church. From the very beginning, what stood out most was his constant encouragement and sincere support for me and my entire family. His presence was comforting, and his words were always a source of motivation and hope.
There are two moments with him that I will never forget:
The first was when he called me unexpectedly—without any request from my side—inviting me to his home to personally guide me on the best way to apply as an electrical engineer at Boeing. That sincere initiative reflected a rare kind of selfless love and a genuine desire to help others succeed.
The second moment came during a very difficult time, when I decided to resign from my job in Egypt and needed to return my work laptop within an extremely tight deadline. I soon realized that shipping it would not arrive in time. I reached out to many people to see if anyone might be traveling to Egypt and willing to carry the laptop, fully aware of how difficult the matter was, the possibility of airport questioning, and its weight. Despite my efforts, no one was able to help, and I began to lose hope. Finally, I contacted Engineer Adel. Without hesitation, he calmly said: “Don’t worry… God will take care of it.”
Just two hours later, he called me again and said, “Bring the laptop tomorrow, and we will go together to meet a young man, Tony Makari, who is traveling to Egypt within two days and is willing to take it.”
We went together, and as always, the time we spent was warm and pleasant. The problem was resolved, and I was saved from a potentially serious issue with my former employer in Egypt.
Uncle Adel lived by quiet generosity and genuine care for others.
His kindness will remain with us always.
