A last look at Longnook , one of our favorite spots for seal watching. Howard, Adam, Heather Laurel & Gary

Adam was my friend for 60 years, from our days in second grade at Watchung School in  Montclair, through middle school, high school and our adult years. He was my very sweet first boyfriend and we spent simple times biking around town, warming our feet at bonfires during the cool evenings on Waterbury Road and sitting on my front steps, waiting for the stars to come out.

Adam's warm heart and sincere dedication to helping others was a gift.

My twin sister and I may have been some of the earliest recipients of his furniture building talents... We asked him to build us a bunkbed in our childhood bedroom in the summer of 1978, after our first year at college. He said "Sure!"  So early on a Saturday morning, Adam drove up to our house with our friend Bill and a station wagon full of lumber and tools. They proceeded to build a a bunkbed from scratch. My parents were very surprised when they awoke to the sounds of building! The bed was perfect and was in the house for many years.

As time went by, we remained good friends, encouraging and supporting each other through life's journeys. I'm so sorry you are gone too soon but so very grateful for the memories left behind. They are a blessing.

May peace surround Adam's family now.  I hope he can watch over us all with love. I was 17 when I met Adam.  We both worked for a cousin of his at the RenFest in Sterling Forest.  He was so funny and kind and talented.  I was blessed to be his friend for 40+ years.  He was my rock in rough waters, and I loved him always.

I want to extend my condolences to David, Philicia and all of Adam's extended family and friends. I miss you guys and I'm sorry that I am so late in posting; I only learned of Adam's passing yesterday. Wishing all of you the very best.

Janet

Adam, old friend ... After I graduated from Montclair High School, I took you up in a Cessna 150 and we flew over the town. You took an aerial picture that became the frontispiece for the MHS yearbook. In Brooklyn I helped you to spread pink goop all over the ceilings of the Pratt dorms, in advance of your plastering them. In New York we went to Junior's for cheesecake. I spent wonderful days with you in Truro and Wellfleet. Years later we walked across Tower Bridge together in London -- and now you've crossed another bridge. Vaya con Dios ... old friend.

Too many things to say about Adam and words fail me. He was a great friend, and for a short time, partner, who taught me so much during my time at Pratt and thereafter. He some what laid a blueprint of professional management by example. Warm hearted, soulful, an ageless sage. I will especially miss the way Adam would tell stories, present the ironies and turns of human connection and crazy directions life takes us. Adam  showed us that anything could be done, by just thinking the steps through from conception to completion. He had a gift of human relation to make things happen and all the while was dedicated to the way he cherished to encapsulate the essence of living through what he loved to make on his own and with collaborators. Never a loss for time to volunteer to help others.

On April 25th, Arbor Day, a tree will be planted on Concert Grove in Prospect Park, Brooklyn in memory of Adam. In late May, there will be a picnic around the tree. If you are interested in attending, let me know.

We are beyond heartbroken to find out about Adam’s passing. Adam touched our lives with so much light. We started out as just his vegan prepared meal maker and grew to become great friends with him. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekly calls with him which always started with what he could expect for meals for the following week and would always morph into great stories about his past. He shared great memories of travel with us when we would talk about our next trip. When we make it to St John - we’ll make sure to pay homage to him there

We became great friends with boo when we would deliver his meals and although she threatened to run down the hall, she always came back when he called or ran back to him when she was scared

We grew to know his favorite foods and the ones he hated most, like kale, which he would say wasn’t even a food and didn’t understand why people would eat it so we always knew to add extra of the things he liked in its place.

He loved our chocolate mousse and whenever we would have it on the menu he would get excited and say he wanted 2 “mice” and laugh

One of our last conversations was when we shared with him about the birth of our first child in January. When he asked the name, we told him Theodore and he let us know that was also his middle name, which we didn’t know! He insisted we must have sensed it and named him after his favorite customer and we agreed.

We feared the day we would find out this news and are completely devastated that the day is now here. We will definitely be at his celebration of life in April and he will always have a special place in our hearts.

Adam and I became friends through our pets.  Adam's Boo and our Diggs and Bubba.  Adam was a very good friend, we shared many conversations about our lives.  I miss his presents in my life, but know that one day we will meet again.  Rest my friend.

Every time I sit down to eat …
2000, Brooklyn, NY, USA
Every time I sit down to eat here, I think of Adam. This is my most cherished item in my home. We can just got 10 people around the table, and I love it when we have gatherings all around it.
Thinking of you all, family and friends who love(d) Adam so much.  I hope I can attend in NYC, and not sure about the Cape, but would love to be part of a bonfire memorial/celebration.  On May 27, I'm signed up for a women's half marathon, which I'm tempted to skip and join folks in R.I., but then again, marathons feel like a way to honor Adam as well. ❤️‍🩹
Remembering Adam was for me, a memory lane that was filled with good people who were creative and growing. That Adam flourished is no surprise. May Adam’s memory live on in the work he has done and the friends he made.
