Aaron's obituary
Aaron Lee Deal died peacefully in his home in Raleigh, North Carolina on January 22, 2022, surrounded by family and the love of hundreds. He was 32 years old.
Aaron was born on March 10, 1989 in Saginaw, Michigan to John and DeeAnn Deal. A lifelong athlete, Aaron laced up his first pair of skates at age three and could be found on the ice, football field, and tennis court throughout his high school and college careers. In 2019, he was inducted into the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame as part of the 2006 State Champion Football team. He graduated from Nouvel Catholic Central in 2007 where, in addition to sports, he served as a church usher and a cast member in numerous musical theater productions.
He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University in 2013, where he met and fell in love with fellow pharmacist, Stephanie. They married in Raleigh on July 18, 2015 and soon after completed their family with the adoption of their rescue dog, Leroy. Aaron proudly served as an outpatient pharmacist at WakeMed Raleigh.
Aaron believed that all dogs are good dogs, but that Leroy is the best dog.
Aaron believed in community and laughter, and inspired both wherever he went.
And Aaron believed in quality over quantity.
In April 2021, he learned his life wouldn’t be as long as any of us planned. But instead of dwelling on what he’d miss, he focused on what he could still enjoy. For eight great months he embraced every last opportunity to take Stephanie out to dinner, start an impromptu dance party with friends, giggle with his niece over FaceTime, and leave us all with the greatest pieces of himself and the fondest memories of his impact on our lives.
Aaron’s light lives on through his parents; his beloved wife, Stephanie Deal; brother and sister-in-law, Adam and Kathleen Deal; niece, Matilda Deal; in-laws, Rick and Renee Payk, Courtney Payk, and Samantha and Kyle Currie; and a large extended community of family, friends, and colleagues.
A celebration of Aaron’s life will be held following the Duke University Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center’s annual Angels Among Us 5K on Saturday, April 30, 2022.
