我们怀着无比沉痛的心情宣布，张树华女士（“Joan”）于2025年1月7日晚在美国盐湖城去世。马年出生的她精力充沛，洋溢着热情与自信。她勇于探险的精神深远地感染着每一位有幸认识她的人。

树华出生于中国，成长于昆明，毕业于昆明医科大学，并担任呼吸科医生。随后她移居美国，在犹他大学获得了分子病理学硕士学位，并在犹他大学遗传学系从事科学研究35年之多。树华以其坚韧和执着著称，鼓励了所有认识她的人如何坚持不懈，并诠释了真正的勇气。她的一生展示了在任何挑战面前的坚韧不拔，包括她最后对抗白血病的战斗。

她的丈夫Barry Nangle、弟弟张宇、姐姐曹树康、女儿叶佳佳和叶菲菲、本地亲属单明和张玉婷，以及盐湖城慷慨的华裔社区朋友都深切地怀念她。

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Zhang "Joan" Shuhua on the evening of Tuesday January 7, 2025 in Salt Lake City. Born in the Year of the Horse, she was a woman with an energetic spirit and lively confidence. Her adventurous personality left an indelible impact on those privileged to know her.

Joan was known for her perseverance and strength, teaching valuable lessons in tenacity and the true meaning of grit to all who knew her. A native of China, she attended Kunming Medical University, and served as a pulmonologist. She then moved to the United States where she received her Masters in Molecular Pathology from the University of Utah, and continued to contribute to scientific research at the University of Utah Genetics Department for over 35 years. She lived a life that exemplified resilience in the face of any challenge, including her final battle against leukemia.

She is survived by her husband Barry Nangle, her brother Zhang Yu, her sister Cao Shukang, her daughters Jia Jia Ye and Fay Fay Ye, local relatives Shang Ming and Zhang Yuting, and the generous Chinese-American community of Salt Lake City.

Per her wishes, Joan will be cremated in a private service with immediate family.  Please see the Events tab on this website for details for a Celebration of Life in Joan's honor.
