Zac's obituary
On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, Zachariah "Zac" Stamey - an adventurous soul and loving husband, friend, uncle, brother, and son - passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident at the age of 40.
Zac always lived his life to the fullest. If you knew him in childhood, he was probably on his rollerblades or causing trouble with his siblings. Some may have known him when he lived out his dream as a firefighter for the US Airforce stationed all over the world. After leaving the military Zac mastered many trades; from managing behind the bud bar to cruising the forklift around a warehouse to his most recent love of woodworking. He found passion and joy through art, both hung on the walls or on his skin. He took pride in working with his hands, wrenching on his Transformer Jeep and later modifying his motorcycle. Many knew him as his hypest DJ personas: FatalMix and DJ Dragon Slayer (DJDS). It was the love of music and good vibes that led Zac to meet his wife, Becca, at a basement party around Halloween in 2008. Zac and Becca spent the last 14 years together, a one-of-a-kind love story full of laughter, joy, and milestones for both.A creative, thoughtful, and caring person at his core, Zac will be remembered for his go with the flow, down for a good time, yolo attitude. His laugh was irresistible. When Zac laughed at something you couldn’t help yourself from laughing too. Every day was an adventure whether he was dancing around his work bench, riding the twisties through the mountains, paddle boarding around Colorado. He shared his happy, positive energy with all but the times he spent with his friends and family meant the most to him, joking around with his nieces and nephews, vacations and playing putt putt with the Nett’s, and hitting all the music venues with his rave fam - Zac’s life was never short of love and excitement. Mixed in were also many moments of chill accompanied by his fur child Nali and a freshly rolled j. Zac left the Earth doing the thing that gave him an ultimate sense of freedom and he would want everyone to find that same feeling. He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and we will always wish for one last hug.
