I never had a chance to meet Will but he exuded a sense of joy. Pictures of your family, especially the annual Christmas card, I could see the extraordinary light in all your eyes, and the love that bonded you. I cannot imagine the depths of your grief, but I send my love. I ache for you all. Cousin Kathleen Peterson,  Salem, Oregon

Jim, Gillian, and Nini, I’m so sorry for your terrible loss. Prayers and love to all your family—-Cab Grayson
Terrible to learn of such a devastating loss. Words are not proximate to do justice to the enormity of your heartbreak. Our thoughts are with you and your family, dear old friend.

Dear Gillian, Jim and Nini,

I am so sorry about the loss of Will. Will and I were friends during our MBA program. He brought so much joy and camaraderie to our entire program, it's hard to imagine what it would have been like without him.

I met Will during the first week of our MBA program. He immediately became a welcoming personality and friend to me on campus. Will's charisma assuaged me of any first-day-nerves of not making friends with my classmates. Throughout the program, Will was a constant source of fun and could inspire a classroom. And while I think many people knew Will for his humor,  I was able to see that he was also smart, driven, and loved his family.  He was driven to find a fulfilling career. I remember talking to him about his family. He talked about how proud he was of Nini and how much good she was doing in the world.

I know I speak for hundreds of other classmates that we were lucky to have him in our cohort, and we are sad he is gone. Your family is in our thoughts.

Thank you,

Charlie

Oh my! Jim and Gillian, I am so deeply sorry for your loss! Thinking of you two and the entire family in this difficult time. Much love….🙏🙏🙏❤️

We can’t stand even to think of the Moorhead/ Hamrick family gathering now without Will. This close, loving, active family does things together. To befriend one is to befriend the whole family. And so, 30 years ago in Maine, Will became like a little brother to our daughter Nell when she became Nini’s friend. Will brought his spunk, good nature, and friendship to every t-ball game, swim, and hike. Because of his special closeness to Nini, our family was fortunate to enjoy Will’s good company from the time he was a toddler through his role as Man of Honor at her wedding. Will seemed to consider Jim and Gillian not just parents, but friends. When we saw Will in Maine in recent years, he was out having fun with his parents - keeping up with their unending physical and social activities.

Because we so admire your closeness as a family and your love for each other, the loss of Will seems especially painful. Forgive us if we stay stuck in denial for a while - still picturing Will with you as you go forward.

With much love,

Alan and Mariana Sorensen

One of my favorite memories of Will is when we discussed family and career paths during his time at Promontory and business school.  He had a wonderful natural curiosity and outgoing nature.  In our talks Will always conveyed a deep sense of family and life purpose, which you all provided, shared and he loved. He and you are in our hearts.

Dear Gillian, Jim and Nini,

Our thoughts and prayers will be with your family. Hope all the  special memories with him will bring you some comfort.

I am truly sorry for your loss, Gillian, Jim, Nini and Maude. Will was a kind and loving soul, looking for that, to love and be loved. He would always tell stories about his family and express how much he loved you. Sending you all my love and strength in this difficult time.

Truly saddened to hear that dear Will is no longer with us. He truly was full of life and vibrant energy.

Will and I worked together at Promontory and I was proud to take him under my wing, as we both were Terps, and he had a genuine thirst for knowledge.

We always had fun working on projects together, sharing our love for exercise (we’d convince each other to meet for 6am workouts during our time in NYC!) and developed a wonderful friendship.

For years we stayed in touch and I’d provide him advice or an ear to hear about anything from his career aspirations or even advice on women :)

He was quite the charmer and exuded warmth wherever he went. He treated everyone with respect. He was so humble and had so many causes that he cared about and looked out for others.

What I was most impressed by was his zest for life, to not take things so seriously, and to truly love his family. I recall him sharing his pride for his mother’s plays, trips with his father, and his best friend, his sister. He told me his favorite moments were with his family during dinners or weekends.

The world lost a good one too early. Sending lots of prayers to your family as you cope with the loss of Will.

My condolences to William's family. I first met William a little over 2 years ago and we would often speak about our love for sneakers and Call of Duty!

Will this past Thanksgiving!

Gillian, Jim, and Nini, we are heartbroken for you. Will was such an integral part of our early summers in Maine, when we were “young families “ together.  Will was funny, he was kind, and he was game for anything. He was a joy to be around! All of us send you our love,

Averel, John, Wistar, Bayard, and Grant
