Background
Rufus was a lifelong lover of dogs. In his older years, one of his greatest desires was to have a dog, but due to his living arrangements, he was unable to. Nothing that brought him joy in his life was more sincere than a wagging tail and a wet nose that was usually met with a rub behind the ears.
