Susan's obituary

Susan Cameron, born March 8, 1953, sadly passed away on September 7, 2024. A woman of boundless love and genuine grace, Susan lived her life as a testament to her faith, her family, and her unwavering kindness.

Born to Robert and Anne Burkholder, Susan was preceded in death by both her parents and her beloved sister, Kathy Burkholder.

In 1971, she became a proud graduate of Buhler High School. She continued her education at McPherson College, graduating in 1975, and began her 42 year career impacting countless lives as an elementary teacher. On June 1, 1975, she married the love of her life, Donald Cameron. Susan blossomed within this partnership, investing deeply in her family. She is survived by her husband, Donald, their sons Brandon, and Chris Cameron, their daughters Aubrey Herrnstein and Brooke Wornkey, son-in-laws Bart Herrnstein and Garrett Wornkey, daughter-in-laws Amber Cameron and Tiffany Cameron, brothers Steve and Kevin Burkholder, sister Karen Lewallen, and many beloved grandchildren. Her family has been her greatest accomplishment, and her most cherished treasure.

Susan was a dedicated attendee at Antioch Church KC, where her servant-hearted nature was fully realised. Her vibrant spirit and deep-seeded faith radiated to all she interacted with. Susan's life was marked by selflessness, always putting others before herself, often sacrificing her own well-being for the happiness of those she loved.

The lessons she shared with us, to love unconditionally and always put others first, remain as a guiding light for those who had the privilege to know her. This selflessness was not just a trait, but the very essence of who Susan was - a loving, welcoming, gracious, and selfless woman.

Her enduring legacy will always be the epitome of a servant's heart. Susan was always willing to go to the ends of the earth to help or make someone's day better. It is through our memories of her sacrifice, her love, and her joy that we find comfort and inspiration.

Finally, Susan Cameron was not only a devoted wife but also the most incredible mother and grandmother, always showering her family with love and warmth. Her absence is deeply felt, but the love she instilled in each of us endures. She may no longer be here in person, but her spirit and legacy live on in each person she touched.
