Randy's obituary
Stuart "Randy" Waid passed away quietly on the night of April 11, 2024, from an apparent heart attack.
Randy was born July 4th, 1947, in Lompoc California to Frances and Finis Waid, the most wonderful parents imaginable. Randy and his older brother Steve had fun growing up in Temple City. Christmas was always special, even the year they received encyclopedias! They were very competitive and along with their dad, loved playing card games, croquet and ping pong. Sometimes the good-natured yelling and name calling, turned into equipment being thrown! They also played the "toothpick" game in their neighbor's pool. Randy loved that game so much he played with his own daughters when they lived in Pasadena years later.
Randy graduated Temple City High School in 1965 and loved high school reunions! He never passed up a chance to party with friends, old and new. When he married and had kids, he loved taking them back to his parents' house for long nights of card games and fun where they could hear the Temple City High School marching band playing on Friday nights.
He loved wine, enjoying lunches at Pizzaioli's and dinners at the Golden Spur. He was always telling stories loudly and vibrantly. He was the life of the party with a voice that boomed over everything else!
He worked hard and played hard. He built his own business, Mar-Jen Supply, selling wholesale plumbing supplies. He loved making deals and stocking his warehouse full of goods. He loved football, swimming pools, westerns, reading, and martinis. There was no man more loyal, lovable, fun, and charming. He was also quite stubborn and a fighter till the end.
Most of all he loved his family. He was married for about 20 years and had two daughters Jenny and Marlena, that he adored and who adored him back. They all loved picking on each other, going to lunch, shopping, trips to Palms Springs and Vegas. Randy was also quite the diva and loved getting pedicures, facials and haircuts. He loved traveling the world with Marlena, following her to Paris, St. Tropez, Barcelona, Ibiza, and London. The only people he loved more than his daughters are his grandchildren Calista and Noah. They loved playing video games, binge watching TV, trying new restaurants, long drives and singing along to the radio, shopping, joking and lowkey gossiping. When Jenny passed away many years ago, Randy took in those grandkids as his own to shelter and love them. He was a hero!
A celebration of life will be planned and announced in due time.
