Stephen (Steve) Leonard Jay, 61 of Scarborough, Ontario passed away suddenly on Friday, December 10, 2021, of natural causes. As his health declined over the last few years, he lived with his youngest daughter (Stefanie) in Wellesley, Ontario and spent his last days surrounded by family.

Steve was born February 20, 1960, to John Leonard Jay and Joan Freda (Coyne) Jay. He graduated from Sir Oliver Mowat Collegiate Institute in 1978. Steve sought refuge in the solitude of nature by hunting, fishing and camping. He was a sports enthusiast, and an athlete himself. He played baseball for several years and was even scouted by the Toronto Blue Jays - a team for which he was a life-long fan. He played rep hockey and could be found watching and cheering-on the Toronto Maple Leafs. Steve was an avid musician and played the guitar, creating many fond memories with his daughters.

Steve is preceded in death by his wife Donna Saunders, and his father Len. Steve is survived in death by his mother Joan, loving daughters Jessica Ann Marie (Jay) Schisler and her husband Nathaniel Schisler, Stefanie Danielle (Jay) O’Brien and her husband Fraser O’Brien and grandchildren Aoife, Kieran, Charlotte and Hudson. Steve also leaves behind the mother of his daughters Carolyn (Wainman) Jay, his sister Donna (Jay) Taylor and two nephews Jason and Christopher.
