May we use our time here well, Stefano, as you did.  You were wise beyond your years. So blessed to have known you.

Thinking of Stef today on the anniversary of his passing. He was a wonderful colleague whose work and scholarship taught us much. His passing was a loss to our community. My heart goes out to his family.

Stef was an absolute gem. I just found out about his passing today. I worked with him at STM’s library, and he was a TA for a class I was in. His most lasting gift on me was his compassion. His eyes said it all. When I spoke with him, he gave me a gift of total presence, a Christ-like presence.
Christina, the story of your husband's life moves beyond those who knew him, who worked with him, who were taught by him. I have read and shared with others in the parish all that your friends have written here---and feel as if I have met a joyful man of God who loved his family & friends, and whom all around him loved in return. Thank you for sharing YOUR great spirit of prayer and of integral ecology with us at St. Augustine. We wish you strength as you build a life without your dearest Steffano, and we will see you someday, somewhere, somehow.
I had just joined LSM (GCCM) and Steff with his joy helped me rediscover knowledge and teachings that I had abandoned many years ago. Steff shed light on my path  and I will always remember him as an example of love for God and for life.

Steffano St. Edwards Group tribute:

A lot of us from the St. Edwards group met Steff in 2007, during our 20s. Aside from being one of the leaders of the One Way to Jesus Young Adult Group, he was very involved with other ministries like Brothers in Christ, CCD, Crown Financial and even with the choir.

All these years, we have witnessed what a great friend, teacher, and leader Steff was.

Kind, non-judgmental, humble, rooted in his faith, someone you can count on…These are just some of the adjectives that describe Steff. No matter what, he was a constant guide and truly someone you can depend on.

Beautiful reflection of Steff…
Beautiful reflection of Steff from tonite's online tribute. Thanks to all who helped organize and share something.

In this picture a contingency of Barry alum gathered at the University of Notre Dame for a conference in the Future of Hispanic Ministry in the US, coordinated by Hosffman Ospino and Timothy Matovina.

Throughout our time together Steff reminded us to live in Hope, and lead in Love— we must walk WITH one another— not “in front, or behind” — and sometimes to have the wherewithal to order a car.  Which we did 🤟🏼❤️🌟

May fond memories of Steffano bring you comfort during this hard time in your life. My heart and prayers go out to you and your family.  Please accept our condolences and may our prayers help comfort you and hasten the journey of Steffano’s soul to Heaven.

Gloria and Joe Rodríguez

Christina, Malaya and Steffano's family and friends, I have no words except to let you know how deeply sorry I am for your loss. I am keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. Love Jem and Family.

Dear Christina and Mayala and all who loved Steffano,

I have been holding you in my thoughts and prayers as I read through Steffano's dissertation. Steffano's work was truly moving onto a new plane of interaction in our theologies. I had the honor of raising his name and quoting his writing in a lecture I recently gave. I share the link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTxafcKJEfQ. Do not feel you need to listen to all of it, but the quote is almost at the beginning and has been both a great gift to my thought as well as healing for my heart. I promise to keep sharing the gift of deep thought Dr. Montano shared with the world!

My deepest sympathy to you, Christina. God is with you. Peace,  Mary Ann Cassidy

My heart aches knowing your physical being will no longer be on this earth but rejoices in the certainty that your spirit lives on in everyone you have touched. While the years of your life seem unjustly short; the impact you have left on so many will be remembered for a lifetime and beyond. I will remember your laugh, your sense of humor, your intelligence and your intense love to live life as full as possible. Your earthly work is done faithful servant and now your heavenly work can begin. My love, thoughts and prayers are with all of those who are suffering this tragic loss especially Christina, Malaya, Pepe, Lourdes and Gabe. Love to you all. ❤️‍🩹
