Sheila's obituary
Sheila Santoro, age 84, born September 30, 1941, passed away October 30, 2025.
Sheila Santoro, PhD, passed peacefully in Georgia following a brief illness. She was married for more than fifty years to her beloved husband, David Santoro, who predeceased her in 2017. Together, they were devoted parents to Sheila Hutchinson (Eric), Laura Demart (Jon), Dan Santoro, and David Santoro Jr. (deceased). She was a proud, involved, and adoring Nana to Kyle Hutchinson (Elliot), Megan Hutchinson, and Sophia Santoro, and a cherished Great Nana to David Hutchinson.
Family was at the center of Sheila’s life. Her greatest joy came from meaningful relationships. She shared a lifelong bond with her sisters, Mary Michael, whose husband Michael predeceased her, and Terry Reid (Bill). She was preceded in death by her brother, Patrick B. Clarke, in 1985. She was deeply connected to her extended family, including Richard (Mary) Santoro, Gilbert and MaryAnn Santoro (both deceased), and Loretta Santoro (Dennis Johnson, deceased). Sheila was a treasured and respected aunt, beloved by many nieces and nephews.
A passionate lifelong learner, she earned her doctorate in psychology later in life and continued practicing as a counselor until her passing. She was deeply committed to helping others, bringing compassion, insight, and wisdom to her work. Curious, adventurous, and open-hearted, she embraced life fully.
She will be remembered for the lives she touched, the kindness she extended, and the love she shared so generously.
The family plans to honor her life in a private service at a later date. In keeping with Sheila’s lifelong dedication to helping others, donations in her memory may be made to the David Lawrence Santoro Memorial Scholarship at Cleveland State University. Established by Sheila and her husband following the loss of their son, the scholarship supports future counselors pursuing licensure and meaningful work helping others.
