Shannon's obituary

Shannon Wimer Hunston entered God’s Kingdom on Thursday, November 11, 2021, after a courageous two-year battle with colorectal cancer. Shannon was 43 and was surrounded by her loving family when she passed.

Shannon was born to Phil and Lori Wimer on October 13, 1978, in Ellwood City, PA. When Shannon was younger, her favorite activities were singing and musical theater. She went to Ellwood City Schools and Beaver County Christian School. She attended Mount Union College and graduated with a degree in English Education. After graduating, she and her husband moved to Florida and pursued careers.

In college, she met Brian, a match truly made in Heaven. They were married on December 28, 2002. Shannon and Brian went on to have three children, Braden (14) and twins Sadie and Bryce (8). Shannon was a loyal servant to God, first and foremost. She loved the church and loved sharing the love and warmth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, with as many people as possible. She was an avid member of Grace Pointe Church in Apopka.

Shannon joins her grandparents, Jane and Paul Zurynski and Lillian and Clyde Wimer in Heaven. She is survived by many loving family members, including her husband and children along with a sister and brother-in-law, Joni-Ann and Jonathan Pickerl; a brother and sister-in-law, Jon-Paul and Christina Wimer; a sister-in-law Kristy Hunston and Dave Hanley; and nieces and nephews: Alexander and Brianna Wimer and Archer Hanley; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth “Kim” and Ronnie Hunston, of Zellwood, FL.

She not only brought sunshine to her family every day, but also spread her sunshine to everyone she met! When diagnosed, she opened her own business called “Sunshine Yard Party” where she lovingly set up signs celebrating events in other people’s lives.

She was a talented, loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend. And this “Sunshine Lady” will live on forever in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing her!

A “Celebration of Shannon’s Life” has been scheduled for December 11, 2021, at Grace Pointe Church in Apopka, FL. Details can be found on the website Everloved.com.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to her children’s educational fund can be made through the EverLoved website or to family members directly.
