So sorry to hear of Scott’s passing. Our family has fond memories of the Paulson family visiting us second cousins in CA in the early 70’s and sharing their African missionary work. God’s peace and blessings to the family.💜🕊 Love, the Sunde’s
Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of grief.

Having God answer a very specific prayer request is a beautiful thing. He always knows what’s best for us and will make sure things go the way He wants. Because I don’t believe in coincidences or random events, I would like to share a story of answered prayer as well as what I believe was a miracle. Based on the stories Scott  told so eloquently, I suspect that God intervened in his life on countless occasions.  This is just another example. Five years ago I convinced Scott to help me with a project to build as a proof of concept a solar food dehydrator that could be used in the hot sun of India. This was a big machine, something that could hold 50 pounds of food. It didn’t take much arm twisting as this type of project was right up his alley. One summer morning  Scott and Brandon came over to our house and together we built this contraption  with the materials and plans that I had ready to go. It took the better part of a day but we finished. Lo and behold, it worked!  The purpose of this experiment was to see if we could possibly make more of these on site for a friend’s church in Bhopal. It didn’t take much arm twisting to convince Scott  to go on the trip and help me get this project off the ground. Over the course of weeks we gathered  specific materials that we would be taking with us on the trip. These were specialty items that we would never be able to find in India. Without these items, we’d be sunk. Our worst fear was the possibility that they would be held up or confiscated in customs. We knew that we would be easy targets for this, considering the country we were going to as well as our purpose for the visit—to help a Christian church in a Hindu/Muslim country.  Scott wasn’t worried in the least. On the plane to Delhi, he told me that he had been praying in advance of our trip and that he had even asked his friends at Calvary Church in Charlotte to be praying for the same thing— that is, for God to make us invisible as we passed through customs when we landed in Delhi.  I remember thinking to myself, what an odd prayer, but I didn’t think like Scott  thinks. I’m sure that some of you that are reading this who asked God‘s hand on our trip never found out how things went that day. We had our suitcases and supplies piled high on a luggage cart and proceeded down a hallway lined with inspectors and customs agents stopping everyone as they passed  by. Scott  says to me, “Look straight ahead and keep walking.”  We did just that, never looking left or right just walked  the 50 yards down the gauntlet of inspectors. Nobody gave us a second look. We made it through the airport with no problems or questions from anyone.  It was as if we were…INVISIBLE!

The Joshi family

So sorry for this great loss to mankind. He was an exceptional person and one of the most dedicated to what he loved to do -  serving the Lord and other people. I had the honor to meet Scott and Eunice several years ago, and I must admit my life is so much better just knowing them. I have watched God work in these  two people lives just in the short time I have known them. My sympathy and prayers for the family at this difficult time, and I know Scott is in heaven rejoicing. No more pain and suffering. This sweet man will be greatly missed by all who had the honor to know him.

I remember Scott telling the folks at Calvary Church (West Hartford, CT) that he liked Fritos and didn’t think the recipe could be too difficult since it was mostly cornmeal.  After many failed combinations,  he decided they must have had some secret process that he couldn’t duplicate with his available equipment but  nonetheless, he  was determined  to keep trying.  How many homemade Fritos did you have to eat Eunie?

The second anecdote I remember him sharing was that Eunie was very afraid of snakes.  On investigating some sounds they heard in their Kenyan home’s attic one night, he discovered that the attic was full of them!!  Yikes!  Always wondered where they slept that night.

  • Scott, Eunie, Debbie and I went camping one weekend in Broken Bow, OK.  We were early to the campsite and couldn’t check in, so we stopped at an antique store to browse. We all found some “treasures” there.  Our treasure was an antique mahogany table.  We still use that table we bought that weekend, it is our oldest piece of furniture and one of our most loved with many, many memories tied to it.  The four of us played many games of Rook around that table.   Eunie and Debbie regularly beat Scott and I.  Scott’s confidence in his cards was often not a match for Eunie’s card playing.  We spent many evenings together in those early years, and those are still very special memories.  Scott’s love of life, love for Eunie and his family, and love for his Lord has been an inspiration and example for me for as long as we have known him.   Every time I think of Scott I smile!  And now I can see him laughing and enjoying Jesus in ways we can only imagine.  Scott leaves a rich legacy on this earth, and he has entered into his rest now as a faithful servant.   I will miss him, but am looking forward to seeing him again when Jesus calls me home too!

Praying for you all.  I know this is hard no matter how long you knew it was coming.  He was always so kind to the friends of his kids at RVA.  He knew not all parents could come and visit and he was so inclusive when there at RVA😊
Although we have had the privilege of friendship with his Dad and Mom, Russ and Lois, we did not have the opportunity to know Scott. But we knew a lot about him through his brother Kent and our Son Bruce. Kent and Bruce are good buddies from RVA days and Bruce has kept us current on some of the more recent developments concerning Scott. It is obvious that Scott contributed much to advancing God's kingdom, primarily in Kenya, but also wherever he was living. He has stored up great and precious treasure in heaven that he is now enjoying. There are few adequate words to express our condolences to all of you who as family love Scott. Quoting the Apostle Paul, we are praying that the God of all comfort fill you with joy and peace as you trust Him so that you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. With our love, Ed and Sue
Our most sincere condolences to the family of a good and faithful servant of Jesus Christ. We are members of Amazing Grace ALG with Scott's parents. Ken and Janet Dawson
Scott has encouraged me as we started up a new mission aviation program in Gabon. He gave me great counsel at the start in 2007 and then, more recently, he gave me great flight instruction to sharpen my skills. Now, our program is growing and thriving due to his great investment... touching so many additional lives through the ripple effects of his generous, Christ-centered life. Well done my friend. Alace and I pray that family and friends sense God's presence and comfort in this time of deep grief.
In response to "When was the last time you spent time with Scott?"
We have been praying for you and your family and will continue to lift you up in prayer for strength and peace. Scott fought the good fight, finished the race keeping the faith and has left an incredible legacy of faith!  He will be greatly missed! May the Holy Spirit give you hope and peace knowing that Scott is with his Savior and LORD.
Scott will be missed very much by his Jurado family. His absence will be hard to fill.
I had the privilege to meet Scott at Liberty University where he encouraged students to sacrifice their lives in service to the Lord's kingdom. He will be greatly missed.
Scott served the Lord and everyone who knew him with joy, persistence and love. We pray for God's comfort and encouragement for Eunie and the entire family.
Scott was always a kind, gentleman. I appreciate his stalwart love of the Lord from the time I knew him at RVA up to the tie of his entering into God's presence. I loved his quick laugh and happy smile. He brought joy to many. Our prayers are directed to heaven for you, Eunie and your whole family in the sad/glad time.
