Ron's obituary
November 22, 2023 turned out for the family of Ronald (Ron) Lewis Clark to be a very shocking, sad day. It was the day he shut his eyes on this world, never to open them again in our earthly time. His body couldn’t take the ruptured appendix, massive infection and pneumonia in both lungs. He fought his best but ultimately he let God decide. Many people lost either a father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, cousin, golfing buddy, fraternity brother, mentor, cheerleader, great friend, or a beloved brother. We will remember his laugh, smile, blue twinkling eyes and sometimes, his words of wisdom!
Ron was born in the summer, June 26, 1942, to Boyd Joseph Clark and Iris Martha Johnson Clark. He was their second son, and probably one of the few times in his life he came in second. He was a miracle almost from the very first, when as a newborn barely out of the hospital, he had to return to that military hospital (during preparations for war) without any qualifying papers to allow him back in. He had developed a strangulated hernia that would have taken his life had he not been allowed to enter that facility. His mother always credited God for the miracle of that experience.
As a young child, he remembered the smell of dirt, and the bright lights. The impact the ball field and his first watched baseball game had on him just never stopped. Oh how he loved baseball. It was first, but then followed basketball, football and finally golf. He loved sports, with the discipline it required and the friendships it built. During his Bountiful High school years, he was captain of the football team, basketball team and the baseball team which showed his ability, of the sport and the love and respect his teammates had for him. During his Utah State college years, the sports continued and he added a fraternity (𝞟KA). He was voted their president.
All his life he was a driven person. Driven to be the best - or die trying. Some of his kids and grandkids didn’t understand his comments or ‘do-better’ talks to them about their life, friends, sports, school or work ethic. They maybe didn’t realize he thought of them as his ‘team’ and wanted them to be the best at what they were doing. He loved each of them so much and was very proud of their accomplishments, from school success, to sports achievements, to religious goals and personal highlights. Ron always told his kids how much they were loved and he meant it. Love is forever!
Ron had so many friends from different walks of life; school, work, sports and any man on the street that loved talking politics. He was a loyal friend and kept so many groups together by staying in touch with as many as he could. He was like the oil in a smooth running machine. He was always willing and able to help anyone who asked and lots of people who didn’t ask. Upon opening his phone after his passing it was found many, many people had called to inquire about him and why they hadn’t heard from him in the last week or so. He will be missed.
The family left behind include his three children, Michael Clark (Lauri) Lindon, UT; Troy Clark (Marcie) Albuquerque, NM; Susan Booth (Brendan) Stanwood, WA.
