I've lost one of my best and oldest friends. We were born three months apart, and for many of the past 55 years we celebrated each other's birthday over lunch, often at a new restaurant that Bob wanted to try. I will miss that ritual. More recently, we had started a regular three-way conversation with Tom Morsch, on the telephone and sometimes in-person over lunch, which covered a range of topics from personal family matters to national politics. I will miss Bob's voice in those discussions; his views were always singular and pungent. Finally, I will miss his photos. Whenever he returned from one of his travels, he would forward a few of his best shots of the trip. Most recently, he sent photos of his and Laura's August trip to Deer Isle. The one of the Maine sky was breathtaking. May you rest in peace, old friend.
