I met Peter while we were singing in the choir under Dr. Raymond Egan. Peter enjoyed singing and always had a warm and inviting smile. He was a wonderful person who will be missed.by all who knew him.  Rest in Peace, my friend.

Thank you for including us all with the zoom link… The Celebration of Life was very moving. Although there were many poignant moments, my particular favorite was the song Wake Up, and the story behind it…especially with his cutest little grandson, stepping up on stage to sing! Well done.

This is a video of Peter's favorite prayer concluding the Sunday services at Holy Nativity.  It was recorded on his last Sunday there, March 17, 2019, from behind the altar (from the choir), so the words may be difficult to hear. The final blessing is given by Rev. Margaret McCauley. This is the text of the prayer, also known as "A Franciscan Blessing:"

May God bless you with discomfort, at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships,

so that you may live deep within your heart. Amen

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,

so that you may work for justice, freedom and peace. Amen

May God bless you with tears, to shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger, and war,

so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain to joy. Amen

And may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can

make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done. Amen

This came up on my Facebook memories today.  It is so good to hear my friend's voice, and as was so often the case, his words bring so much comfort and grace.

Happy Birthday, Peter!  It still hurts having to accept that you and Kristen are no longer with us.  Happy hopes in heaven!

Dear Peter, On what would have been your 68th birthday I write you this. I took a drive by the Altadena Golf Course the other day, our old stomping grounds. We shared a love for the game of golf and a friendship that lasted 45 years began. The fun and memories we shared are way too many to list here, but I remember them all. Thank you for the friendship, love, and support you gave me and so many others. The laughter and tears flow freely as I think about so many wonder times, the beard growing contest and the "peas in the rice" just to name a few. I love you my friend and I miss you dearly. But there will always be a piece of Peter Rood in me and I will keep that and cherish those thoughts and memories forever. Love Paul
