We are approaching the 1 year anniversary of Peter's death and we miss him so very much. We appreciate seeing the photos of how many of you have spread his soil. While we would give anything to not be in this situation, our hearts are warmed by the lovely people that have sent their condolences and thoughts.
Some of us will gather this Tuesday 7/22/25 at his tree ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/dfNQxFtK8PnDLC467 ) in the Arboretum in Seattle. We invite any and all to come join us, we'll be there 11am through 2pm with a picnic. If you can't join, please take a moment on that day to think lovely thoughts, hold Peter in your hearts and be good to those around you, like Peter did!

Peter loved the Mojave Desert and shared many adventures there with his friend Kiva. Oscar, Charlie, and I joined her this spring, PK had selected this lovely rustic cabin for his wedding sometime in the future. We shared some of Peter's soil with this harsh, but still delicate and beautiful place.

Blodgett Canyon, Montana, USA
I wanted to share where I placed PK's soil last week. Though he had never been to Blodgett Canyon, I figured it'd be a spot that he'd love. High on the side of a mountain is an old growth ponderosa that I've walked by a hundred times. Somehow, it survived the logging boom and lives on in one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. I dug a small hole at the base of the tree and placed PK's soil in there. Now, every time I walk past that tree I'll think of him. Anyways, I hope others share where they place the soil: There's a certain peace in knowing that he's still contributing to the beauty of a place.

We posted this elsewhere on this site but I’m copying it here as well:
Hello Friends and Family of Peter Kubiniec, aka PK,
We have received the soil from Peter’s composted remains. We can mail you a pouch or arrange to get it to you in the Seattle area. Please consider posting on PK’s memorial page (this site) where you spread the soil or if you used it to nourish new plantings (if you would prefer to send a more personal note, please email it to the address below). We like hearing about special places you shared with Peter and how you are remembering him. For soil, please contact us at pskmemorial2024@gmail.com
We have designated a memorial tree in the Seattle Arboretum. This pin should get you to the tree, but you may want the photo too because sometimes the pins are not super accurate. The tree is old and wise, but also a bit goofy and fun, a good mix to remember Peter.

Dear Kubiniec Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't know Peter but I came across the obituary and after reading his story it saddened me. He was very young. My heart goes out to his family. Loosing a child, sibling in death is one of the hardest things we can ever go through. I hope you're surrounded by love and finding support in your family and friends. Death is an enemy to us all, taking away our most beloved ones. In John 11:11 death is compared to a peaceful sleep and just like we all awaken from sleeping, Jehovah God will wake Peter up from death. (Acts 24:15) Jehovah God offers us the hope of the resurrection. May this hope give you strength until you're reunited with Peter, your beloved son and brother.

My condolences to PK's family.
I met PK at my first cross-country practice in my freshman year. The two years we ran together in high school were some of the most fun times I've ever had in sports. His kind and friendly personality was truly inspiring, and I immediately felt like a part of the team. I'm incredibly thankful for my time with him, and I wish I could have seen him more before he passed.

PK's intellectual character, welcoming spirit, and athletic talent and were all immediately apparent on the first day I met him, when he won the Wild Wild West Ultramarathon in 2022. Our paths crossed again a year later in Yosemite Valley after his attempt on The Nose. In the precious time I spent with PK, I had the unwavering confidence that I was developing a lifelong friendship with a person of singular importance. I send my condolences to his family and friends.
