Obituary
Nancy Wilkerson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly on September 10, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on October 27, 1952, to Dolores and Lyle Raymond, Nancy lived a life overflowing with love, faith, and generosity.
She grew up in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, graduating from Beaver Dam High School where she was crowned Jr. Miss Beaver Dam. She carried a heart of gold throughout her life and leaned into her true passion and legacy of serving others by pursuing her calling as a nurse at Sacred Heart School of Practical Nursing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Her career touched countless lives at Lakeview Nursing Home, and her kindness was felt through every life she encountered.
As Scripture reminds us: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4–7). Nancy embodied that love in all she did.
Nancy’s greatest joy came on October 14, 1979, when she and David Brumfield welcomed their only son, Benjamin. Her love for Benjamin, and later the family he built, was steady and deep. On August 9, 1996, Nancy married Derrel Wilkerson at Grace Lutheran Church. She always said Derrel was her right hand, and together they shared nearly three decades of love and devotion.
Family was the very heartbeat of Nancy’s life. Her greatest pride was becoming “Grandma” to her only grandson, Benjamin “BJ” Raymond II.
Nancy found joy not in grand gestures but in the sacred beauty of everyday moments: sipping her morning coffee with gratitude, preparing meals that brought loved ones together, cheering with unshakable pride at games, or filling evenings with laughter over cards and dominoes. She delighted in long walks and conversations that lingered, always making those around her feel seen, valued, and loved.
Nancy carried a light that was impossible to miss. Her radiant smile could brighten the darkest day, and her compassionate spirit had a way of softening every space she entered. She was the kind of woman who didn’t just enter a room—she lifted it—leaving warmth and joy behind. That grace flowed directly from her deep and abiding faith in God, a faith that anchored her life and inspired everyone blessed to know her. Those who knew her remember her devotion to God. She led Bible studies, shared scripture, and began each morning in His Word.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Dolores and Lyle; her brother, Morry; her grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Derrel; her son, Benjamin Raymond; her daughter-in-law, Karli Raymond; and her grandson, Benjamin “BJ” Raymond II of Atlanta, GA. She is also lovingly survived by her sister, Bonnie Arndt, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Nancy’s legacy of love, strength, faith, and a heart of gold will live on in all who knew her. Forever in our hearts, her love will never fade.
