We are devastated to hear of Mike’s passing. We are so very sorry for this immense loss.
All though it’s been years since we’ve seen each other, our great memories of our friends at SAC came back as if it were yesterday. Some of the best times in our lives.
Special prayers to Connie, Heath and Heather

Mike’s answers to Sam Hinton’s questions for Grandparents’ Day:
Think of one of your relatives, an aunt, sibling, cousin, someone like that. Think of an amusing encounter, something that has stuck with you over the years. Tell a story about this person.
I remember my uncle Ben Hinton, Dad's brother. He took the time to teach me how to really play checkers when I was about 11 or 12 yrs. old. He was very good. He said you have to do the same thing in checkers you do in chess, you have to think many many moves ahead. He said you have to have a good poker face too. Don't let your opponent know you are about to spring a trap on him.I actually beat him a few times.
Mike
Tell Sam a story about one of your favorite birthday memories, if you can. It doesn't have to be a specific age. Just relay to him how you celebrated. Who was there? Did you get to have a special treat? Pick a favorite meal? Wear a birthday hat? I want him to see how different...and perhaps how similar...birthday celebrations can be. I'm looking for him to gain perspective.
There was nothing I can remember special about any of my birthdays. They were just family most of the time, cake and ice cream and presents. I might have had a few parties when I was very young, but I do not remember them. I think the only party I had in high school was at church.
Think way back to your earliest childhood memory of your room. Who did you share it with? What did it look like? How did you get up every morning to get ready for school? Who woke you up? What was breakfast like? How did you get to school? Focus on elementary years, if possible. Be as detailed and descriptive as you can. Sights, sounds, colors, memories of your childhood room...and mornings before school...
I don't remember much before the age of 8 about school. I do remember our house in Melbourne which was a small single level house in a large neighborhood. A lot of the parents worked at the Space Center or the Air Force base like my Dad. I shared a room with my brother. We didn't have air conditioning so my brother and I would fight over the fan we ran at night. Mom would wake us up for school every day. She would have to make several attempts to get us up. She cooked breakfast (bacon and eggs)most days or we had cereal. I walked to school (about 2 miles) through Elementary years. Bathroom time was at a premium and privacy was non-existent. Fun times indeed.

One of a kind, finest man we knew. Ready smile and always a twinkle. He’ll be sorely missed.

This makes me so sad. This one hurts! Mike was a great guy! We had a lot of fun playing football. He was very smart too! He helped me a lot in Trig! I’ll never forget when we played Ocala in Ocala our Senior year. Mike, Bruce Hannah, and I roomed together. I’ve never laughed so hard! Thank God we won! My prayers are with his family. 🙏🙏🙏❤️

I’m so sorry for your shocking loss. Your father was a kind, easy going, happy man. He had this twinkle in his eye that made you think even though he may be quietly hanging in the background, he was so enjoying being with everyone. I pray your sorrow is comforted with cherished memories. Wrap your sweet, amazing mother in love.
