Michael's obituary
Michael “Mike” Patrick Idell (born August 6, 1955, in Camden, New Jersey), age 70, of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, with his devoted wife, Angela, by his side. He grew up in Kettering, Ohio, and attended Archbishop Alter High School.
Faith was the foundation of Mike’s life. His relationship with Jesus was the most important part of who he was. He spent much of his time reading the Bible, sharing the Gospel with those searching for faith, and joyfully singing and praising the love of Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior.
As a devoted member of Church of All Nations, Mike—affectionately known as “Mikey”—was a beloved parishioner whose warmth, enthusiasm, and kindness endeared him to all who knew him.
While building a community rooted in Christ, Mike met the love of his life, Angela Rose. And she was his angel. Their relationship began across continents (Angela in the Philippines and Mike in the United States), and their faith and love kept them strong despite the distance. Their devotion to one another grew through perseverance and trust in God. They were married on June 30, 2014, and Angela joined Mike in the United States to begin their life together, united in faith and love.
Mike had a vibrant personality and a joyful spirit. One of his favorite pastimes was karaoke, where he delighted family and friends with heartfelt renditions of Christmas songs and his cherished wedding song, “Endless Love” by Lionel Richie.
An entrepreneurial spirit at heart, Mike founded his own carpet cleaning business in Dayton, Ohio, approaching it with creativity and flair. In a memorable and uniquely personal touch, he promoted his services by traveling through the streets of Dayton by horse and carriage alongside his beloved horse, Lady. In one of his advertisements, his children charmed viewers with the line, “My dad can save your dad money,” a reflection of both his ingenuity and his devotion to family. Mike had a natural ability to think outside the box and bring joy to even the most practical pursuits.
After relocating to Florida, he continued his carpet cleaning business, working tirelessly despite the challenges of the summer heat and humidity. Always attuned to new opportunities and recognizing Florida’s vibrant hospitality scene, Mike made a bold transition into the limousine service industry, building a successful business in South Florida. With his signature charisma and creativity, he would cruise along A1A, playfully announcing through the limousine’s speakers and inviting people to enjoy a night out in style. He took great delight in sharing stories of the notable individuals he chauffeured and the concerts and sporting events he experienced along the way. Mike’s resourcefulness, adventurous spirit, and zest for life brought energy and joy to every day.
Mike is survived by the light of his life, his beloved wife, Angela Rose; his children, Michelle (Mark) Drake, Dan Idell, and David (Amber) Idell; and his treasured grandchildren, Luca, Avery, and Vivienne.
He is also survived by his loving siblings, Susan (Jon) Friedmann, Linda (Paul) Miller, Bill Idell, Kathy (Ron) Kwolek, Mary (Jon) McIntosh, and Lisa (Ari) Sassi; and his uncle, Wilfred “Bud” McGlone. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chris Idell; his parents, William J. Idell and Anne Marie Idell Washburn; and his stepfather, Carl Washburn.
Mike is also survived by Angela’s loving family: his mother-in-law, Margarita Quinao, and his cherished nieces—Imee, Esmeralda, Paner, Cyeanne, Isefiah, Irene, and Salonga—along with countless dear cousins, nieces, nephews, and devoted friends who will remember him with great affection.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of All Nations in Boca Raton, Florida; the date will be announced.
A burial service will be held on November 23, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at David’s Cemetery in Kettering, Ohio, followed by a celebration of life at the home of his daughter, Michelle, and Mark Drake (address to be announced), where family and friends will gather to celebrate Mike’s life and lasting legacy.
Mike will be remembered for his deep faith, his joyful singing, his entrepreneurial spirit, and the love he shared so freely with family, friends, and everyone he met. His life was a testament to faith, perseverance, and the power of love in Christ.
