I don't have a birthday memory to share, but I want to share how much I miss Melanie.  I think of her every day when I pass her house.  We were neighbors and friends for 25 years.  And, she taught my grandson in her wonderful Mommie and Me class.  I miss her humor, wit and genuinely warm personality.  We talked and laughed a lot together.  She loved her family dearly and always spoke of them with pride.   There will never be another Melanie.

Summer visit
2020, Schofield cabin! Finally got to see it :)
To say my heart is broken is an understatement. Mel was the very first person I met when we had both moved to Nevada in 1994...27 years of one of the most sincere and cherished friendships I've formed in my lifetime.

From growing kids, neighborhood shenanigans, and through all the dogs in our lives these past 27 years (Riley, Bronco...on through Staley and Willow, not to mention the sweet lovings she bestowed on our own four-legged family members) - her family was at the forefront of her mind and heart, ALWAYS! She lived for her cherished family, like no other I've witnessed, and was always one jump ahead of what she could do next for them - adored every single minute of it. Mel exuded love!

And that sharp, WICKED sense of humor...I might just miss that most!!! Perhaps one of her most endearing qualities, to me. I don't expect to meet anyone, in the rest of my lifetime, that could handle adversity the way she did for the past 4-1/2 years - with a smile, and a twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes, always. She exuded GRACE and courage, on top of everything else! TONS of it!

My deepest condolences, and love, to Jack, Alana, Jake, Colt, and Kenz - thinking of you all. Going to go wipe my eyes now, and throw back a shot of Crown, to my friend...she would have wanted it that way - LOVE AND MISS YOU, dear Mel!

Melanie and I we’re supposed to be wine tasting in Napa Valley with Jennica and Mackenzie on this trip but different illnesses landed us both on medications that prohibited alcohol, so instead we hit every amazing restaurant, took the ferry from Sausalito to San Francisco, and enjoyed every single minute.

2020, 3 hour lunch!
I was so blessed to be Melanies’s friend. We knew each other for close to 18 years. Melanie, Laura and I would literally meet for lunch and gab for 3-4 hours about everything but mostly her family. We shared a passion regarding our golden retrievers and love of football. Who knew she loved football like me? I miss her more than I can even bear but knowing she is no longer in pain gives me some strength to remember all that she has meant to me as well as so many. Love you my dear friend!

Looking forward to celebrating the incredible life and legacy of Melanie Schofield in September. She was the very best mother-in-law a girl could’ve hoped for and I am so grateful she welcomed me into her family with open arms.
