Marcie's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marcie Levine on June 12th, 2024 of complications from a cycling accident. While she was fighting hard on her recovery this unexpected passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, the Boulder community and her extended community.
She was an amazing woman, wife, mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, who will be remembered for her love of family, friends and animals. She was whip smart with a great sense of humor who cared so much about the people around her. Her generosity was boundless. Marcie and Brian opened up their home for family gatherings, and to family, friends and strangers for short and long term stays.
Marcie was born in Rochester, New York to Selma and Arthur Levine. They moved around the country from Rochester to Binghamton, Detroit, Chicago, and Philadelphia before finally settling in Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, where Marcie spent her middle and high school years. She received a BA in Human Resources from the University of Kansas and her MBA from the University of Colorado, Denver.
With trips too many to list, Marcie had a passion for life and travel. Her continued interest in experiencing diverse cultures and meeting new people took her around the world. Diving on the Great Barrier Reef, climbing the tallest sand dune in the Sahara Desert, taking care of elephants in Thailand, meeting the Princess of Jaipur in India, going to Petra and Wadi Rum in Jordan, and hiking in Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, just to name a few of her adventures. She often combined her passion for travel with her love of animals by bringing veterinarian supplies and money to countries in need.
Marcie was founder and CEO of SurveyConnect for the past 29 years. Leveraging her HR expertise, she built a company from the ground up that provides 360 assessments, surveys and organizational development consulting to help companies create a better environment for their employees. She successfully sold her business last year.
She will be deeply missed by her husband Brian Stern, and their son Matthew, her brother, Steven Levine and his wife Jill Kyte and their daughters, Vel and Zoe, and Brian’s brother Gary Stern and his wife Nancy Segal, their children Ben and Allie, and Brian’s sister Rifka Stern and her husband David Broudy, and their daughter Juanita and grandson Emir.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, July 13th, at the Boulder JCC at 1 pm. As we mourn the loss of Marcie, let us also celebrate her legacy of love, laughter, and compassion. May she rest in peace knowing that she was deeply loved and her amazing positive energy will never be forgotten.
