Luella's obituary
Luella Lewis (née Reed) was born July 05, 1928 in Leland, Mississippi to the late Bishop Reed and Lillian Collins. Luella was the last surviving child out of 10 children born to this union.
When Luella was a preteen, she moved to Detroit and caught the eye of Marcus Lewis. Marcus was smitten with his new neighbor and in time he won her heart. Marcus and Luella were married on November 1, 1947. From this union, eleven children were born.
In the early 1950's, Marcus, Luella and their young family began studying the Bible. After recognizing that they wanted to serve Jehovah God together, Marcus and Luella Lewis were both baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses in Detroit on August 10, 1959. Now this matriarch had spiritual values to enhance her commitment to her family responsibilities as she and her husband served Jehovah side-by-side.
Luella loved Jehovah and studying the Bible. She enjoyed preaching and maintained a life long zeal for the ministry. Even as her mind and body were failing, she continued to share Bible truths with her caregivers up to her death.
Luella will be remembered for her love of Jehovah and her family. She was eager and willing to support the congregation in any capacity.
