Thank you for putting this together Doug, awesome job!
I knew Lucille as a friend and fellow volunteer at Our Saviour Lutheran
Church. She was a most dedicated Board member and Treasurer of the BC Mission Boat society since its beginnings, for many years. She would not have left this work in her 70's, were it not for her health. She found it was becoming difficult with her painful arthritis. It was then that she also found challenge with the business work as treasurer, experiencing the beginnings of her dementia.
However her dedication was inspiring as she continued to help until a new treasurer plus bookkeeper were found to assume her roles! This took several years to accomplish as she carried on with the role. "One Lucille volunteer" was replaced by "two people to cover her work"! We counted on Lucille to prepare the Mission Boat for its summer travels, as the co-planner and stocker of groceries, weekly laundry of bedding and linens, welcomer and provider of her home with bed/ breakfast/ showers for many student volunteers and summer staff, over many years!
As well as this volunteering, Lucille contributed her tenor voice to the church choir, helping to keep the male tenor section " on track". She contributed her artistic and sewing talents to create a beautiful set of banners used at the church each year. For me as I began working at the Mission Boat office, Lucille shared her business sense, her knowledge in many areas including politics and community affairs, her energetic spirit, her dedication to God and Christian mission, and her hearty laughter!
I know how challenging Ahlzeimers condition is and I know that she is now at peace with our Lord Jesus . Praying peace for her family.

Blessed be her memory. What beautiful pictures you have shared of Lucille and family!
