Lisa's obituary
Lisa A. Brown, 61, of New Bedford, MA, formerly of North Truro, Cape Cod, MA, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2024.
Lisa lead a passionate and creative life, and will be remembered for her love of music, animals, and the environment.
Lisa graduated from Nauset Regional High School in Eastham, MA, and then obtained her Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and a Graduate Certificate in Public Management, both from the Charlton School of Business, UMASS Dartmouth.
She formed and was the lead singer for the Boston hard rock band Hässengear in the 1980s, and she also performed solo around town as L.A.Brown.
She was an active professional, founding her Brown & Brown Accounting company, and offering her financial skills to many local businesses, including several animal rescue organizations.
Among Lisa’s many personal and professional accomplishments, she considered her 30 plus years of sobriety as one of her greatest achievements.
To those starting or struggling with their journey, she would offer “Lisa’s Life Lessons,” which included taking it one day at a time and rocking out to your favorite song. She often suggested a walk on the beach to soothe the soul in periods of doubt.
Born to Dr. Willard Brown and the late Elaine Brown (Sullivan), formerly of Providence, R.I and North Truro, MA, she is survived by her daughter, Emery Popoloski (Walters) and son-in-law, Charles Popoloski; her three grandchildren Caitlin, Elizabeth, and Charlie; and her siblings Michael Brown, Christine Brown, and Jennifer Brown. She is also survived by her step-mother, Deborah Brown, nephews Joseph Brown and Willard Brown, and her soul-sister, Sheila Crosby McGorman.
A private memorial service will be held in the Fall of 2024. In lieu of flowers, Lisa’s family ask that you please make a donation in her memory to the Forever Paws Animal Shelter, 300 Lynwood St, Fall River, MA 02721.
