Uncle Lemuel was my favorite Sunday School teacher. He was a bachelor at the time when he was my fifth-grade teacher at another local church in Chinatown NYC. Each Sunday, he’d bring his beaming smile to class and always emphasized the importance of memorizing God’s words to use and guide us in our daily life.
Many years later I found out that he was at OCM since he married. When I met Auntie Ruth, she was so warm and welcoming. When an opportunity came up to help her with the children’s choir Bible musicals, I gladly joined her and helped with behind the scene production. To name a couple, Jonah and Psalty.
Uncle Lemeul, Auntie Ruth and Uncle Herbert are now in heaven. They were a pillar and a bright beaming light in our church community and have left an indelible mark on us all.
We cried and sang with you as you shared memories from your family album during the beautiful memorial service. It is so hard to say goodbye to someone we love so dearly. Danny Boy, Uncle Lemuel’s favorite song for Tim to play is uplifting – offering us that tantalizing hope of a possible reunion with the departed.
Jonathan, Jason wore a choral cape that your dad had made at one of the Christmas pageants. It will be treasured forever.

Our deepest condolences, Shiu Family. What a gift your father was to his community. Surely he will be met with a "well done, good and faithful servant" from our precious Lord. May you all feel the love of God and his presence in very tangible ways in the coming days.

The world has lost a kind loving and generous man. His faith and love for God and his family (of which he included me) was immeasurable. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren. He gave and gave to those he loved and never asked for anything for himself. The joy he felt was clearly on his face whenever he was with his loved ones. And that was the only reward he wanted. To have been privileged to know him was my treasured gift from him, We shared so many good times and always ended with a hug and a blessing. The greatest gift to me was giving my son an incomparable wife and mother and daughter in law ... his beloved daughter, Denise.
I hope you're in the arms of God and Ruth now Lem. The true measure of man is what he leaves behind. Your legacy is magnificent. Now you can rest in peace. Sending love and condolences to the family who will treasure the memories of Lemuel Shiu. Bette and Bob
