Background

As we celebrate Nurses Week, I am reminded of the incredible impact that nurses have on our lives. This week, I am honoring the memory of my beloved sister Diane, who passed from breast cancer in March of this year after dedicating 45 years of her life to nursing. She was a true champion of the profession, and her contributions were recognized globally when she, and her team were awarded the Magnet Award for Nursing Excellence. Diane was the only Chief Nursing Officer in the state to lead her team to this worldwide recognition.

To honor her legacy and commitment to nursing, I am proud to announce The Diane Johnson Nursing Advancement Scholarship (administered by Sinai Hospital). This fund will provide scholarships and support for future nurses who aspire to make a difference in the lives of their patients, just as my sister did. I invite you to join me in supporting the next generation of nurses with the education they need to succeed in this important profession.

If you know a nurse, have been treated by a nurse, or just understand the importance of these caregiving individuals, please join me in honoring them and my beloved sister. Thank you!
