Krystyna Jaczewska was born on May 4th, 1949 in Solingen, Germany to Walentina Jaczewska (née Procka) and Wacław Jaczewski.
Krystyna’s parents were forced labourers in the III Reich (German state under Adolf Hitler and NSDAP). They were forcefully resettled from Slavic lands during the German occupation and found themselves in a limbo after the end of World War II, when the Soviet Union took control of Eastern Europe.
