Kristina's obituary

Kristina Katherine Ellis, 44, of Brookhaven, GA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on October 8th, 2023.

Kristina was born at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington DC to Katherine and Stephen Ellis on July 11, 1979. She spent her childhood years in Darnestown, MD, graduating from Quince Orchard High School in 1997.

Her next chapter in life brought her to James Madison University, where she graduated in 2001 with a BBA in Marketing Information Systems. It was there that she met her soulmate and future husband, Toby Spry.

Soon after college, Kristina started her career in Human Resources with the Department of Defense in Washington, DC. This position allowed her to travel around the country, gaining valuable experience for her successful career. She had since been committed to her role as Director of Global Communications at Novelis in Atlanta for the past 9 years.

Kristina and Toby married on May 29th, 2009 in Atlanta, GA. They welcomed their 2 beautiful daughters Katie and Emily soon after and settled in the Brookhaven neighborhood of Atlanta.

Kristina treasured every moment with her children, her friends, and her family. She enjoyed being outdoors with the sunshine on her face, walks to the farmers market with her loved ones, strolls on the beach, and the fresh air of the mountains. She was a master chef and poured her heart and soul into every dish, as long as it didn’t include cilantro.

She embraced meditation as a way to keep herself grounded and found spirituality and positive self worth in the process.

Travels to Seaside Beach, Yosemite, and Lake Tahoe with her family were special to her and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Kristina was a loving, dedicated wife and mother. She had a joy and a light in her gorgeous blue eyes that was infectious to anyone she met.

She was completely selfless, caring about others and their experiences during her own time of need. She had a passion for life that was inspirational and encouraging to those around her throughout her journey. A brave fighter, she had an unwavering determination, coupled with a charming sense of humor. She brought laughter and levity to some of the most complicated and difficult situations in her experience.

Kristina has left a lasting impression of hope on countless family members, friends, and even complete strangers. Though gone from this earth too soon, she had a strong faith in her creator and felt God’s presence guiding her in her life. She believed in the human experience and that we are all connected through love, energy, and the universe. She had an abundance of unconditional love and gratitude in her heart that will last for eternity to anyone that crossed her path.

Her kind and thoughtful soul will be greatly missed and remembered forever.

Kristina was preceded in death by her beloved “Graggy”, Jane Del Vecchio Reichert.

She is survived by her endlessly devoted husband, Toby Spry, children, Katherine (Katie) and Emily Spry, parents Katherine and Stephen Ellis, sister Jessica Ellis Wilcox, brother in law Whitney Wilcox, niece and nephew Annabelle and Brayden Wilcox, sister Bethany Ellis Groen, brother in law Cameron Groen, nephews Abram and August (Gus) Groen, brother in law, Stanley Spry, sister in law Heidi Spry, father in law Thomas Spry, and mother in law Sarah (Kate) Spry.
