Keith's obituary

On the afternoon of September 7, 2024, Keith Harris peacefully went to be with the Lord. Keith was a man of faith and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many.

Keith Harris was born to Eargette and Cordelia Harris on November 16, 1958, and grew up on Chicago’s Southside. From humble beginnings, Keith received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. Keith forged a remarkable path through life. He was a talented athlete, and earned a football scholarship to Wichita State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Keith carried that same dedication into his professional life where he successfully navigated the corporate world with charm and grace.

Keith was a dedicated father and instilled key values that his children carry with them today. While his professional role called for him to travel frequently, he always prioritized his children’s needs by making time to attend and coach their sporting events, taking them on surprise vacations, attending school functions and helping them navigate life’s tough situations. Keith’s message of self-discipline and his knack for keeping a tidy house is an important practice in their daily lives. Keith was also a leader in the Ministry taking after his grandfather and uncle where he was religiously involved in his church’s Men’s Ministry while also heading up the Deacon board and volunteering as a cub scout leader.

Keith’s early career began as a Regional Manager at Jiffy Lube and from there he went on to hold several prominent roles throughout his career. Keith’s final role was with Sysco in Houston, Texas where he proudly served as Senior Director of Process Integration. He was admired for his leadership and expertise, but it was his ability to see in others what they did not see in themselves that allowed him to help and encourage so many to be successful.

During his time in Columbus, Ohio Keith served on the board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and as one of the only African American men in leadership at Ashland Inc, he volunteered to travel to several college campuses to recruit minority candidates. As an avid Ohio State football fan, Keith carried his passion with pride and rarely missed a game. He eventually relocated with his family to Katy, Texas, in 2011 where he still proudly flew the Ohio State Buckeye flag during football season. He also enjoyed golf, and on the same day his son AJ was born, he achieved his first hole-in-one!

Keith was known for being a great storyteller when surrounded by those he held dear. His love for a good laugh and his knack for delivering punchlines made every story he shared a cherished memory.

Keith is survived by his loving wife Michaela Harris as well as his children AJ Harris, Keith (Brittany) Harris II, Dominique (André) Goosby and Tim Bradshaw; his sister Diane Kinnon and mother, Cordelia Harris along with his 3 grandchildren Kennedy Harris, André Goosby II and Aubrey Goosby. He was preceded in death by his brother Andre Harris, his son Cori Bradshaw, and his father Eargette Harris.

A memorial service to honor Keith’s life will be held on September 22, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Parkway Fellowship, 27043 FM 1093, Richmond, TX 77406. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made toward a Memorial Magnolia Tree that will be planted in remembrance of Keith.

Keith's legacy of love, dedication, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him. His memory will be cherished and deeply missed.
