Karen's obituary
It is with the deepest sadness that we announce that Karen Lynn Fortin, age 59, of Shelton, Washington, passed away on November 7, 2022 after suffering a fatal cardiac arrest. A celebration of life will be held on a future date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations, in Karen’s name, to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (www.aspca.org), a cause that Karen felt very strongly about. (e-cards and messages can be sent to KarenFortinMemorial at gmail dot com).
Karen was born on July 31, 1963 to Elizabeth Fortin (nee Chibi, nee Young) and Kenneth Young (predeceased) and later William R. Fortin (predeceased) in Leamington, Ontario, Canada. She is survived by her husband Jeff Schultz, mother Elizabeth Fortin, brother Alan Fortin (Ami), sister KellyAnn Fortin and her beloved dog, Lilly.
After graduating from high school, Karen went on to have a successful and rewarding career in the advertising field where she rose through the ranks as a media buyer and later media buyer supervisor. The advertising field was well-suited for Karen who loved the fast-paced environment and the social aspects of her career. Combining her love of advertising with her knowledge of the automotive industry, she spent many years as the media buyer for Jeep dealerships in Washington. After moving to Seattle, Washington, she enjoyed working in the City, with the legendary Bon Marche department store chain. For fun, she enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful outdoors at the lakes, ocean, and mountains.
Karen and her husband spent much time renovating their 1910 Craftsman style home and incorporating her love for vintage furniture into the decor. Karen’s artistic eye and flare for decorating was evident in their home which always looked like something out of a design magazine. When they were not renovating their home, they enjoyed camping and traveling around the state of Washington and Oregon, including the Pacific coast with its unspoiled beaches. She was also a loyal fan of her beloved Seattle Seahawks, rarely missing a game. Ultimately, her and her husband purchased a sprawling vintage home and property in rural Washington to renovate and retire.
Karen loved her husband, family, and animals. Our loss is deep; she is in our hearts forever.
