Background
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation or support of some kind to these organizations our mom cared about so much:
PLANNED PARENTHOOD: Jude was a staunch supporter of reproductive rights her entire life and actively worked to protect women's bodies, needs, wishes, stories and more. She made sure we (her kids) knew who Margaret Sanger was, that she was born in the town we grew up in (Corning, NY), and that she (Jude) went door to door handing out birth control, marched in Washington, and was still on the streets defending Planned Parenthood as recently as last year. If you donate to Planned Parenthood in our Mom's honor, please know this cause was deeply near and dear to her heart.
MOMS DEMAND ACTION: She was also so, so proud of her daughter-in-law Jennifer Birch, for the amount of time and effort she has given to Moms Demand Action, an amazing organization working to end gun violence. She so deeply respected Jennifer's commitment to this cause and passionately took it on as one of her own.
INNISFREE GARDEN: Innisfree is a surreal experience here in the Hudson Valley and our mom often talked about her trip there with the Women's Club she was a member of in her community. Jude LOVED gardening, and being able to identify plants, flowers and trees. She loved taking and sharing photos of nature, the sky, a peaceful landscape, etc. A gift or visit to Innisfree would bring Jude so much joy.
For some reason this website's only letting us add three charities, but here's one more:
EMILY'S LIST: Jude fiercely believed in the political process, regularly participated in voter registration drives, volunteered as a poll worker, and never EVER missed her chance to vote. She loved supporting the Dems, and specifically female candidates. So donate to Emily's List, but even better: if you identify as female, and know you're a badass, run for office.
