Joseph “Joe” Michael Miklos, 41, of Encinitas, CA, passed away unexpectedly on August 23, 2024, following a tragic fall. His sudden loss has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.
Born on June 8, 1983, in Mesa, Arizona, to Jon and Tina Miklos, Joe brought joy and light into the world from the moment he was born. His infectious smile and big heart made him a beloved friend and family member.
Joe’s early years were marked by a passion for sports, particularly football, which became a defining aspect of his life. As a standout athlete at De La Salle High School, he was a captain on state championship football teams, perpetuated the 151 game winning streak and earned accolades such as the East Bay Cream of the Crop and First Team All-League honors. His talent and dedication earned him a football scholarship to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he further distinguished himself as a two-time team captain, a five-time Mountain West Conference Player of the Week and was selected as All-Conference Safety three times. He was also honored with the Tom Wiesner Award by his coaches and teammates, recognizing exemplary courage, enthusiasm, and dedication.
Joe’s academic pursuits led him to earn a Bachelor of Science in Economics at UNLV and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Saint Mary’s College of California. His professional career in software sales saw him excel at companies like Zendesk, OpenDNS, GitLab, and most recently as an Account Director at Temporal. Joe was highly respected in his field, known for his dedication and ability to manage top enterprise accounts with exceptional skill and a personable touch.
Joe was passionate about snowboarding and surfing and had a particular love for electronic dance music. He was a familiar face at music festivals around the world, embracing life with passion and joy. His charisma, loyalty, and generous spirit made him a cherished friend and dearly-loved family member.
Joe’s legacy lives on through his beloved family. He was a devoted uncle to Asher, Grey, Graeme, Logan, William, and Aubrey, and his love for them was boundless. He is survived by his mother, Tina; father, Jon; and sisters, Jessica and Jordan.
To honor Joe’s memory, a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held in Encinitas, California on Saturday, November 2, 2024 @ 2pm at the Alila Marea Beach Resort in Encinitas, CA . Joe's absence is deeply felt, but his spirit and the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and joy to those who knew him. We honor his memory for the many blessings he brought.
