Jonson Conquest Shaad passed Friday evening, December 30, 2022. He was an incredible athlete, protective son and baby brother, and loyal friend. God must be recruiting a soccer team up there, and the star has arrived.
Jonson was born in Wichita, KS on February 4, 1992, the baby brother of the 5 “J” Boys — Jordan, Jason, Jon, Jackson, and Jonson. As a kid, Jonson was a gifted soccer player and all-around athlete. When not on the field, you could find J5 at the baseball stadium with his dad, shooting hoops in the driveway with his brothers, playing in the treehouse with his friends, or rooting for the Dallas Cowboys with his mama. A perpetual goofball, Jonson was sure to draw a laugh in every room he entered and never shied away from a fun time.
Jonson had an indescribable charm -– it was impossible to stay mad at him or tell him “no.” As a 3 year-old, he once snuck away from his grandma and decided to ride his tricycle from the house to Lawrence Dumont Stadium, where his dad worked as the manager. When the police saw him crossing a major street and stopped to ask him where he was going, he said defiantly, “I’m going to see my dad!” When Jonson put his mind to something, there was no stopping him.
Jonson had friends from everywhere. He attended Mueller Elementary, Brooks and Hamilton Middle Schools, and Wichita East and Maize High Schools. He played on too many soccer teams to name, but was most proud of his time on the Kansas Olympic Development Program (ODP) team. After high school, he played soccer at both Barton County Community College and Friends University.
As a young man, Jonson committed himself to God and put his all into his work as a freight broker. He was a natural salesman — his smile has always been able to woo over anyone (and made him very popular with the ladies). He was close with his parents and fiercely loyal to his friends, whom he considered an extension of his family. He had unparalleled swagger and loved working out, fishing, playing video games with his buddies, and continuing to dominate on any soccer field. He loved being “Uncle Jonson” to the kids of his brothers and his close friends.
Jonson went to God on Friday, December 30, 2022, and will be goofing around in Heaven awaiting his dog Bella, his parents, Becky Conquest-Lacy and Steve Shaad, his four brothers, and countless friends and former teammates.
The family would like to sincerely thank the team at Wesley Medical Center for the compassionate care they gave Jonson in his final days as he peacefully transitioned to God’s hands.
