John's obituary

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of John Pfingsten Jr., a beloved man full of life, laughter, and love. John was born on March 23, 1947, and passed away on March 31, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, joy, and perseverance.

John was a fun-loving guy, often seen as an instigator of good humor and laughter. He had an unquenchable love for entertaining family and friends, always at the ready with a witty joke or an engaging song, his love for life infectious and heartwarming.  A military brat who even called Tripoli Libya home, he swore he would never move again once he was married ... and he maintained residence in his honeymoon home in Tampa until his daughter lured him to the Orlando area in retirement.

He is fondly remembered for his love of movies and cars (he often shared particularly fond memories of his white '67 Cougar...loved Jim's black '68 Cougar too) and his impressive chess skills (took his son Mike seven long years before finally outwitting John at chess.) John also boasted a hole-in-one at the Eagles golf course, a memory forever etched into the annals of his life despite losing his ball to a water hazard in the subsequent hole.

John was a persistent man who believed in the importance of socializing first and work later, often found working hard to avoid work : )  He was a collector at heart, with an assortment of reel-to-reel tapes (and then replaced and expanded with CDs), VHS (which he replaced and expanded with DVDs, but when streaming came along Jenn said he finally said no more!), figurine chess sets, and Christmas village houses that spoke volumes about his love for history and preserving memories.  Oh, and golf balls too...he'd often spend more time fishing for golf balls and asking others to play through than it took to play a round (he was just looking for his lost hole-in-one ball!).

The void left by John is filled by his loving wife of 53 years, Marilou Pfingsten; his children and their spouses, Michael and Camia Pfingsten, Jim and Christie Pfingsten, and Jennifer and Chad Young; nine grandchildren; and his siblings Robert Pfingsten, Tom Pfingsten, Donna Pfingsten, Larry Pfingsten, Gary Pfingsten, and Suzanne Pfingsten. He was predeceased by his mother, Betty Pfingsten, his father, John Donald Pfingsten Sr., and his brother, Michael Pfingsten.

John Pfingsten Jr.'s legacy will continue to live through his family, in his collections, and in the humor he generously shared. He will forever be remembered by all who knew him, a beacon of light, a fountain of joy, and a reservoir of love. His passing leaves a void in many hearts, but his memory will forever remain unsurpassed, a testament to a life well-lived. Rest in peace, John Pfingsten Jr.
