I am so grateful to have had Uncle John, Aunt Jane, and my cousins be part of shaping my life. Uncle John you always had a quiet strength about you that never went unnoticed. You shared your incredible God-given talents with all of us, through your arts or even just cookie decorating. Your stories, jokes, pranks, and humor will live forever in our minds. You never missed an opportunity to bring about laughter and smiles in all of us. Whether it was taking a picture or just making one sly comment at the dinner table. Watching your beautiful marriage to Aunt Jane was the purest example of love and commitment. Your relationship with my dad is also something I cherish having observed. You were the best brother to him, showing him unconditional love, friendship, and the most special kind of connection. I thank you for being an enduring presence in our family and the most supportive, loving, and funny uncle I could have asked for. Your loss is overwhelming and hard, but we will all rejoice that you are healed and that we had such a great man part of our lives.

1975, Fullerton Road, Rowland Heights, CA, USA
Back in the early 1970s, John bought a TR4A sports car. I came to visit him the winter of 1971 and we took the TR4A out for a spin and he scared the living daylights out of me when we drove Fullerton Road from La Habra to Rowland Heights. He had done this many times before and knew where all the turns were and how the TR4A could handle them. Me, no way. To make things more interesting, he asked me if I wanted to drive back down to LaHabra....but I didn't know how to do a manual shift at that time so I begged off....that meant another "ride from Hell" to LaHabra with the fog coming in and visibility getting worse by the minute. When I saw him in early June, I said to John, "Fullerton Road" and TR". ...he filled in the "4A" with a smile and said my name. Yes, he remembered and I will too as John was as good as friend as you could have.

We remember when John got swept off his feet by Jane. I think they shocked everyone when they got engaged to marry just three months after their meeting. John was over the moon gaga in love with Jane. Everyone saw it. John knew what he wanted and his conviction was solid, the two of them were so smitten and they spent all their waking hours day and evening getting to know each other and flying in the clouds in love, Roland and I were at John and Jane’s wedding. Jane’s relative did the entire ceremony all in Latin. It was a formal Catholic wedding.
We remember before kids were born…their first and second house in La Habra, then the houses in Placentia after kids were born. We were all struggling in those days, and when the babies started coming, things got tougher. We took a fun trip to Big Bear camping with John, Jane, Laura, and Ursula. The kids had tons of fun playing and getting filthy in the dirt which was out of character for us “city folk”.
I must say that John and Jane always made their homes so fastidious and perfect. John once helped Roland line our entire garage with wallboard. I also remember the amazing wooden patio cover John built in the Placentia home, the staircase to the second floor, and the handsome end table. One thing I admired about John is that he patiently taught his niece, Patricia, fine woodworking in the Placentia garage. I also loved his kind and gentle demeanor. He was always so pleasant and very dear to us.
We remember both John and Jane helping us move time and time again in our younger days, always being such good sports.
John will be forever in our hearts. He is gone physically, but never forgotten. We had wonderful memories of John that will live with us forever. "Rest in peace John”.

Imagine my surprise when I found out we were going to be neighbors-not just work buddies. You guys were the best and I missed you when you moved. 💕

John loved creating with wood. He had a great workshop in the garage at our Placentia house. Here are some pictures of his many projects.
